Tamiya #58154 M1025 Hummer

Recommended Posts

Recently purchased a genuine Tamiya M1025 Hummer in need of a bit of work.

Had one of these 3 or 4 years ago and played about with it - gulf war look alike with scratch built bull bars and snorkel. However I sold it because I bought a Tamiya Full Option Sherman and the fact it was a touring car TA-01 modified with a Hummer shell.

Thankfully this is a 'proper' one with instructions etc. On first inspection it doesn't look too bad, apart from a dodgy purple paint scheme, which was then painted over in a not so bad Matt grey.

The body shell needs replacing however as somebody had a crash at some point and the front grill is smashed/missing.

New one ordered from jr-rc Japan.

Also ordered from the U.S a mcfarlane .50 cal and gunner which was recommended by Mr.Crispy and The Rocketman, they used one on their awesome Generation Kill Hummer.

Anyway, more to follow once I get time and some bits arrive!!

Looking forward to this build, it's great to see what people do with these 😊

Ad Lav, when you're finished with the old Hummer shell id be interested in buying it even with damage.

Certainly - thanks for checking in :)

Got to make some space on the workbench so I can take some proper pics.

I'll drop you a PM when the other one arrives.

I thought someone might be interested in the old body for a project!

Mcfarlane .50 cal and figure arrived this week! Looks very well detailed.

May try and use the figure as a driver.

Body not here yet and spare wheels due soon.

Some bits arrived from Japan and America today in the shape of a new Hummer body shell and a Mcfarlane .50 cal coast guard gunner.

Swapped over bits from the broken body shell and working out how much plasti card I need to use.

Plan is to add a snorkel, bendy aerial, new style wing mirrors, brush guard for grill, spare wheel and stowage.

More soon :)

Adam

More work on the Hummer today, snorkel fitted and .50 cal trial fitted.

Do you think the guard is too big or about right? Looking at photos it seems ok.683381afd806a7ad1e67279b8efc70e5.jpg

Once everything is painted and fitted it'll match a bit better.

Ordered some new wheels and tyres and an antenna today.

Going to sort out the radio gear once the Sherman and Lunchbox have sold.

Spent a bit more time on some of the finer details on the Humvee today.

The spare wheel covering the fixing posts, rear bumper guard, bolts heads from a rivet and bolt set.

Taken the front bumper guard off as it hinders the fitment of the body and looks too chunky.

Thanks :)

Managed to make an exhaust and cover for it today, need to get the bendy bits for it somewhere.

Made it using a biro cut to length and then slid an exhaust cover from a 1:16 Tamiya Tiger onto it.

Going to abandon the brush guard this time I think.

This was my original one, albeit on a touring car chassis and not an original Hummer.

More progress today - got the main body primed and painted.

Painted the spare wheel green for a bit of contrast and added some tie downs in the form of paper clips.

Stowage and camo net to add [emoji1]

Finally got the exhaust stack sorted.

Weathering and detail painting next, and that big ol' .50 cal needs painting.

Ordered a camo net too, should be here 'soon'

If you could find or make the CTIS things for the wheels, that'd look super sweet

Lol :)

Came from the states - it's a Mcfarlane Military figure and weapon collectable.

Labelled as coastal gunner. I repainted it as it was Battleship blue/grey!

I have had a quick online search for the same and couldn't find anything? Would work well with one of my long-forgotten projects haha
