Hello everyone, glad to finally be a part of the fine community here at Tamiya Club! I wanted to share my recent TXT-2 Agrios build with everyone. I will hit some of the highlights of the build, the full build is on RCMT.net.

I order my kit from Stormer Hobbies, they had the best price on the kit.

20140307_113850_zps5b7cbb5d.jpeg

This is how I received the kit, I found a mess, this is how Tamiya packed the kit, no dividers, no nothing.

20140307_114154_zps455b83a7.jpeg

On to the build!

20140307_125943_zps876fb505.jpeg

One of my first modificatiosn was to removed the black anodizing from the chassis side plates. I used "Greased Lightning" a degreaser, by soaking the parts and brushing off the anodizing with a bristle brush. I cleaned with water, dried, then sanded the panels lightly with 800 grit to give the panels a brushed look.

20140309_160603_zps1b6ce12e.jpeg

Assembled the axles using Lucas Red N Tacky Grease, this works extremely well on metal gears, it is a little thick, but it breaks in nice and protects the gears.

20140309_181142_zps40fc5ebc.jpeg

20140310_150901_zps192e4ce8.jpeg

Next I decided to remove the upper chassis bumpers by cutting the mounts flush and sanding them smooth.

20140310_145617_zpsc050fd44.jpeg

I also decided to remove the black anodizing from the chassis links as well.

20140310_141216_zps3bab6e09.jpeg

After cleaned and dried, I lightly sanded the links like I did with the side plates.

20140310_155903_zps3aacdc38.jpeg

I am going to use behind the axle steering so I modified the stock servo / bumper mounts so that they will only serve as link and shock mounts.

20140312_103232_zps67dfc497.jpeg

I purchased a set of Clod size tires from RC4WD, they are their "Rumble" racing tire, also found a set of original white Clod wheels, which I painted silver using Tamiya PS12 polycarbonate spray. Using this paint, gives the wheels a satin finish and the paint is very durable on plastic wheels.

20140313_153455_zpsa2c870fc.jpeg

20140314_172201_zps8ddfba85.jpeg

I also glued the tires to the wheels so they won't come off.

Rear axle lock out kit installed, and axle going into chassis.

Shocks assembled and installed, axles and suspension installation complete.

20140318_130835_zps9ae8e252.jpeg

Aluminum TXT / Clod wheels adaptors, picked these up on Ebay. These are needed to mount Clod wheels properly and easily.

20140318_135608_zps653a0aec.jpeg

20140318_143328_zps547efff4.jpeg

I installed a Tamiya TEU-106BK ESC for this build.

20140327_182400_zpsee9d726f.jpeg

Now on to the body shell. I painted it using Tamiya PS24 Fluorescent Orange, painted the rear roll bar with PS12 and left the rest of the back portion of the shell clear for a more realistic look.

20140329_144836_zps74b0fb40.jpeg

20140329_173238_zps8c858781.jpeg

I used body mount foam disks by Dan's RC to protect the paint, cushion the body against the mounts and prevent the shell from rattling when driving the truck. These work great, I use them on alot of my builds.

20140331_094054_zps489566b7.jpeg

Here is the finsihed product, after fitting the body, trimming it and applying decals. I also trimmed down the body mount posts and sanded them smooth. The Bigfoot 19 decals were purchased through a company called Digital Designed.

That paint job color really stands out and i like how you left the rear clear and unpainted. It will even nicer if you can put a V8 at the back to max out the effect. Great attention to details like even sanding the post. I would just cut it and left it like a raw wound. let me look at your build again and appreciate sharing your work with us all.

Those new shoes look they mean business, won't get stuck in any beach. It will just scoop its way out.

You'll love this truck man! I've got more monster trucks than I can count and my TXT-2 is by far my fave of the bunch. So much fun to drive and built like a tank!

Thanks for all of the compliments! I plan on doing a little more work on the truck here and there, just have not had much spare time lately. One thing I am going to do is put Sport Tuned motors in it with Robinson hardended pinion gears. The truck is just a little too slow!

Nice, real nice. With the axle mounted servo and rear lock out - looks 1:1 - nice build !

I've just ordered some custom polycarbonate side plates for my txt-2 to lighten it up and replace those heavy steel plates to help "speed things up".

When they arrive I'll have an update in my thread and I'll check with the TC Member supplying them if he's interested in supplying to other members :).

The side plates really aren't that heavy, they are aluminum. I was going to go with Lexan sponser plates as well, but the transmission mounts mount through them. I'm not sure how Lexan will hold up before cracking, so I stuck with the aluminum and stripped off the black anodizing.

This is one stunning looking truck, the orange really suits it.

I've heard the Fluorescent Orange can be a bit of a ***** to use, did you have any problems with it?

I did have a little trouble with the orange, it is very is hard to get into and stick to the small bends and details of the body. I also should have backed it up with white, but I used silver because that's all I had. The silver made it come out a little darker than I wanted.

Found this link on rcmt.com. Has anyone else tried the BTA steering kits on the Agrios? Curious about the durability and if there is a downside beside lack of protection from the bumpers.

I know this is an old post, but can anyone point me in the direction of the wheel adaptors used above? I really want to fit clod wheels and tyres on to my TXT-2.

There seems a lack off support for these trucks in the UK.

I don't have a link but I got some alloy wheel adapters from Hong Kong, through eBay, with fitments to allow using either TXT or Clod wheels.

Clod tyres will fit TXT-1 wheels and the wheels fit straight on to the TXT-2.

Cheers Peter, I looked on ebay but couldn't see the parts needed. I don't like the TXT-1 wheels that much, too showy! I know it's a monster truck!

I'm going to order the clod wheels anyhow and see about making the adapters myself. I'm a machinist so doable, just time consuming.
