  1. Hi All, I'm looking to restore my vintage Wild One to shelf queen status - I doubt I'll run it again (back in the day I raced it stock, silver can etc.against CATs... with predictable results). I'm looking for the following parts: 1) Body & roof (or body, roof and driver) - original or rere. 2) Front & rear wheels (must be new condition in white) and tyres vintage or rere as long as the original tread pattern. 3) Hex half shaft (one or two would be fine). 4) Decals (preferably vintage). Any help would be appreciated. John.
  2. How far things have come! I built homebrew lights on my vintage Wild One from unused 1/72 bomber nose cones lined with tin foil, small filament 6v bulbs and clear tape over the front, all powered from the battery and attached to the same mounts as the original 'dummy' lights.
  3. Bit late to this thread. When i raced my Wild One on grass, I used pin spikes on the front wheels and the standard 'oval block' tyres on the back. With the standard 'ribbed' front tyres there was much less turn in (although we raced 2wd with 4wd in the same races - my silver canned Wild One compared to a race tuned CAT!)
  4. Hi XV Pilot, that's pretty much idea - trade it before it gets trashed, shame about the parts availability. It wasn't great to build (the parts didn't match the instructions) and I had to replace most of the screws with hex bolts but it looks like it would have been a good racer if tuned correctly.
  5. Hi All, I have a Yokomo MR4-BC Super Dogfighter (circa 2006) and I'm wondering what to do with it. I bought it originally to race not realising that the clubs near me raced far more 2wd than 4wd. As such it has only had light running and is currently complete and fully operational. I'm now looking for something more suitable to trash about with (with adequate spares availability etc.) and kind of feel it is overkill for this. I can't find much on the web about it since about 2010 and hardly anything on ebay apart from a few minor bits. As I see it I'll either run it until I break something I can't replace, or sell it on to someone who can make more use of it than I, I'm open to any suggestions?
  6. This looks stunning. The problems you've found with the tub & body are identical to my original Wild One (landing it hard on the roll bar blew out both sides of my tub) I glued it back and reinforced with plastic card but it wasn't a good fix. I cut the sides off my first body when the cracking starting at the corners and my roof showed similar enlarged screw holes.
  7. If it's yours you can do what you want with it. Anybody who has raced a vintage RC will understand that not everything works when kept as standard. For re-sale value you should leave it in the blister packing, but they were made to run. I retired my vintage Wild One after the last race of a season, it was years before the RE-RE, it was quite beaten up and I'd lost some of the original parts. It's almost been on fire once (my homemade ESC fried all the wiring to the motor). It still has the mud on it from that last race.
  8. I ran my Wild One with an additional spring spacer on the front dampers (the red collar just above the spring), which balanced the front and rear better.
  9. When I raced my original Wild One, I found an additional spring spacer (the red plastic collar just above the spring), on each front damper helped stiffen up the front end slightly. I also think there's a weak point where the front roll bar mounts to the bathtub (although as mentioned somewhere else the FAV pastic front cover might help). When my Wild One landed on its roof, the roll bar punched holes in both sides of the tub. If I was building one today I'd try to provide a bit of give somehow between the roll bar and tub.

Thanks Guys, Terra Scorcher, hadn't heard of that, had me baffled, didn't realise there were so many variations on the three/four shock theme with and without turnbuckles and the anti-roll bars. Good to know I should be able to get the bits easliy. It was in the garage for 15 years, didn't think I'd be in luck. I've downloaded the Thundershot manual and now know which bits I need, how does the battery stay in? Looks like one end of the battery holders pivot on a screw, but it's not clear what keeps the other end in place. DCC

Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum, started Tamiya around the Wild One/Fox era and found this rolling chassis around the early 90's and would like to ID it and try to get it running (not sure if the Bigwig wheels are original). I think the bits it needs to run are the motor/pinion spacer and cover, the right-hand-side battery holder and a bodyshell. A piece of the front anti-roll bar mounting is missing but otherwise it doesn't look or feel in too bad shape, the dive train in paticular seems to run smooth. Also any suggestions as to a pinion size for a stock motor would be handy.
