rcb1138 1 Posted July 30, 2015 Finally got my hands on a Hot Shot. I was looking at different parts but believe there are upgrades and such. Speaking to one person, they asked me which version I have. Is there an easy way to distinguish one from another? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
mynameisdannyowens 61 Posted July 30, 2015 I think there are a few versions identifiable from the bumper (number of holes) and the prop shaft (piano wire or brass hex) but I'm no expert and that's just stuff I've read at some point on this forum. I'm sure someone with the knowledge will enlighten us both soon
Wandy 1527 Posted July 30, 2015 There are three versions. * The early production 58047 model, produced for roughly one month in March 1985. This variant is classified as the "Mk1" amongst Hotshot enthusiasts in this club. Tamiya themselves have acknowledged it as the "early type" Hotshot. * The more commonly seen "standard" 58047 model, produced from roughly April 1985 until it was discontinued some time in the late 1980s. This is known amongst the enthusiasts as the "Mk2". * The 2007 re-release model. This is effectively the "Mk3" variant. Check out this showroom listing for more info... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=99863&id=24742 There are loads of threads on the differences too. This is one of the earliest.. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8096
