Beach holiday in France - What to take with me?

Recommended Posts

I usually take my Stadium Thunder cos it cost peanuts and it doesn't really matter what happens to it. Plus, it's great fun on the beach - especially on the smooth stuff after the tide has gone out.

However, I've just sorted out my F350 with a 4-link kit, so I'm considering that too.

Or there's also a possibility of the Wild One or Dyna Blaster?

I'm leaning towards sticking with the ST.

Open to thoughts...

If those are all the cars to chose from I'd go with the Stadium Thunder, too. Now, if you have a Lunchbox then that one would be my choice.

Have fun in France! ;):)

I think the Wild One or the Dyna Blaster - the Wild One for its beach appeal, or the Dyna Blaster because it seems that not too many of them get run these days... However, any one of them appears a winner for such a trip!

The question is how much can you bring there and how much will you bring back. The cases of wine, Foie_gras, escargo...you will bring back will limit on what you can bring there....unless you plan to post back some of the stuff.

Took my Lunchbox to the beach this past weekend and much like your ST its great on the hard packed sand and the ability to build endless jumps is great :D

I vote the ST - Hilux will be frustrating if there is a lot of soft sand...

Thanks for all the suggestions - I think I'll stick to consensus and go with the Stadium Thunder. It's the most durable anyway...

@mongoose - nice vid. Hopefully I'll grab some footage of my own... 8-)

@Tamiya1/10 - don't worry - we're going in a 7 seater, so there'll be plenty of space for return goodies...

@March75 - maybe next year!

I am too scared to use my F350 on the beach as from experience of my old Sand Scorcher metal and salt don't mix :)

I would take the cheapest and most plastic of your models :)

Yep - that's why I did the 4 link conversion - I rusted up the leaf springs big style...

La Tranche sur Mer - near La Rochelle. Lots of nice flat sand! :D

In that case Stadium Thunder or Wild One.

Have fun!

Just spent an hour running two LiPos through the Stadium Thunder on the beach when most people have gone home. Brilliant fun! I'm amazed at how much abuse the Stadium Thunder can take - I had some serious rolls and cartwheels (to a few oohs and ahhs from some people watching) but it just keeps going, provided it lands on it's wheels.

1x Sandy beach + Stadium Thunder (£18 from eBay) + ezRun brushless combo (£33 eBay) + 2x 4000mah LiPo ($36 Hobbyking) = more fun than you can shake a stick at. :D

Now I just have to get my kids to take some video...

I gave got a small amount of footage, however, I found the limit of the chassis tub durability. Mine was already a bit cracked and the front mounts were definitely dodgy, but a 3 foot high jump landing on the front left wheel caused a major cart wheel and tore the whole front end off and sheared the steering servo arm :(

Definitely no possibility of a "holiday" repair, so it got put back in the bag...

Had a good few runs before the "accident" so it wasn't a total loss. Just need to get the videos off my daughters phone...
