Bullhead Cab Military Style 6x6 Build

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody, it's been a little while since I've been on Tamiyaclub, this is what I've been up too......

Tamiya Bullhead cab, military style 6x6 build. I used 2 sets of SCX10 frame rails, SCX10 axles, SCX10 transmission with Hot Racing steel gears, Tamiya Humvee wheels, a working 5th wheel from a Tamiya Scania, Gmade shocks, etc.

It's almost finished, I still have a few more details I am working on such as a cable and hook for my rear winch, etc.

The full detailed build is here; http://www.rcmt.net/forums/showthread.php?423302-SCX10-6x6-Military-Heavy-Recovery-Truck-Build

That looks great! Got any video clips of it running? I just read through the build thread and what an interesting project.

So, when are you starting on the trailer? :)

I've test run it a few times in my yard, I've changed out the 35t Trinity motor for a 55t Novak. I will be taking the links off and painting them flat black. Once it's "finished" I'll make a video of it running.

Funny you should mention that, I was thinking about making a trailer last night! :D

We'll see what happens, I have some other projects I need to work on as well.

Worked on the rear winch a little today, got the cable on there, waiting on a couple tow hooks to finish things up. I used picture hanging wire, which is a braided steel line, it made for very scale looking winch cable and it is easy to work with. B)

Finished up a few more details, for the most part this build is done!!! :cool
The only thing I have left to do is add some LED's to the headlights on the cab.
These are really neat "scale" tow hooks.

Put the HR metal tow hooks on, painted the aluminum suspension links and steering links flat black. Also painted a few other small odds n ends flat black to blend them in better.

A few pics for now....I'm going to bring it somewhere nice for a few good pics, maybe do a small video of it running too.

I finally was able to take the "Beast" for a trial run today, did some trails and a little rock crawling. Everything worked out really well, no issues, it drives and climbs really nice!
Took some new pics.....:cool

That is a great looking truck Jeepy2013. Watching it climb the rock wall was fantastic! You should be very proud of that mate, excellent work.

I'm gonna start making expensive suggestions here but have you looked into sound or smoke units? I was thinking that a deep throaty diesel engine thump and a puff of exhaust as it powered up the wall would really finish it off.

It maybe possible to use a cheap Heng Long smoke & sound unit from their tanks to good effect.

Great build anyway.

That's a great idea, I thought about doing atleast smoke. I'll have to check into the Heng Long unit, I've never heard of it before.

Fantastic build, never seen a Bullhead shell look so scale! And what a machine, watching it drive straight up that rock face was incredible. Looks like you have the perfect playground for it too.
