Didn't see how much the 8x8 is. I would not be surprised if its $5000 - $7000. The engineering is the most complicated for RC model, kind of put it in the expert league.

just found out is available at www.wtbcar.com (the on line store that has not reply to any of my email to date.) for $2800.00 + shipping... could be yours for $3k +/-...if you trust this online seller. only cod for me.

forget Santa, he can't afford it. You may have a better chance with the devil with your soul and since you haven't been that good which is even better. The work on that thing!

2350 to 2500 depending on exchange rates - direct from CAPO - 100 units produced, limited run. Trying to figure a way to get one...

Give me $4000.00 and I'll figure out how to get one for you.

I want one. I think the 100 units will be snapped up pretty quick. Is a fine piece of RC work. The 2500.00 price is much less than the asking price for Mr. Tamiya signed Blazer and Hilux and likely much more rarer, other than for the signature (who cares even if is Mr. T's very own :P ). And just think is made in China.

Is it RTR or kit form?

mucked around their site and found some pretty options for other rc model namely the bruiser.

the price for this 8x8 beast is ¥14500.00 + ¥250.00 for shipping ( if correct, the shipping price is very good, given the thing comes in wooden box over 3ft x 16in.? x 9-10 in.? (just x 25 to work out in mm)), which works out to be around $2450.00! unless the ¥250 is for the packing not shipping.

I forsee rc of this caliber will be showing up more in the market given mfger capability are getting better and better and prices could come down.

I am very surprise not much interest shown for this 8x8 even though most of us can't affort it or not willing to pay that kind of money for it. All metal, 1000 screws, even the motor is covered by a metal v8 with a turbo charger. I guess most members like cheap plastic rc where they get work on it as this the TC not hardcore:-)

I agree, surprised as well. My brother and I have spoken of an all metal vehicle like this for years !!!!

I think it's great, but way out of my price range. I have to content myself with building my own creations, which are nowhere near this quality. One of these or 4 tanks though, that could be a tough decision. $4000 would get you a reliable 1:1 car.

Is only 3 tanks,as it can be delivered to your home for $3000 or less. Plus i would say well over 90% of TC or joe rc don't have the machinery or have access to or know how to use the equipment that you have. Mind you u can probably make your own, while the rest of us have to fork out from after tax dollar plus get hit by duty or vat depending where you are. You are in a good position to either buy it or make you own.

Just think for the price of the a new Nikon Df with the 50mm 1.8 lens you can get the 8x8, Two totally different hobbies and not enough money :(,

I think the 8x8 may keep its value better in the long run.

Both are tempting ; both are out of reach  .

On ebay for $3599.00, that's over $1k difference than list. I guess seller got to make some money after paypal takes its cut. :( At around $2500.00, will think about it  , but at $3.6K  will need a rich uncle that I don't know about or win a lottery. 5 was available, but all sold and currently taking back orders.

I hear an upgraded or improved version will be coming out.

I must say is the ultimate RC to date and life could be much better being rich.

The latest version is out for a limited run of 80 units at $2800.00 plus shipping. The package with weight 21kg or over 40lbs.

Better gearing and ground clearance, improved engine design for cooling of the motor, a canopy for the truck bed, wipers will work, and the only option are sound and light. Need 5 channel radio to steer, speed, shifting gear, diff. lock and wiper operation; 4 servos; 550 motor; esc and battery.

Is a lot of Benjenmens, but is also a lot of truck.

Is either this bad boy or a DSLR camera. I can hid the camera but 40+ lbs box will be difficult.

You will be getting quite a capable truck. One less set of wheels saved you $2G. The capo 8x8 is 4 times the cost of your truck, but is it 4X better? Is like a Ferrari costing 3x more than a Vette, but is it 3x better? I guess will have to be decided by the actual buyer and how much cash on hand or line of credit available.

Seems like these "other" RC companies can slap or engineer a kit together better than Tamiya can and my last two kits were not tamiya and I don't see any either in the future based on what I see coming out from Tamiya New or Re re.

I'll be ordering it soon but not building until the spring I suspect then we'll have a full review !

I think the big $$ one is all metal which is a significant difference and if the wife allowed me I would buy it :).

In the meantime, Tamiya has yet a large number of r/c I am still purchasing, building and stockpiling.

How can you compare a Ferrari to a Corvette ? One is a hand crafted supercar with handling second to none with the best engine in the world while the other is a 40 year old truck engine bolted into a plastic bath tub mounted on a chassis designed by Fred Flintstone .

Americans just don't know how to build a REAL sports car .

I wonder if they'd mark a low customs value and disguise it so HMRC would let that 40lbs package through without inspection ?

You realized those are fighting words. My weapon of choice will be the late 2014 Vette replacement for the ZR1. 600+hp with enough torque to effect our solar system; 50/50 weight distribution; magnetic particle shocks; steam roller tire that will pull enough Gs to rearrange ones internal organs, but the much needed new interior will keep your body in place and those EXL pizza size disc will stop so fast that you will be worrying about the over priced and rated and high maintainance ferrari will not be able to stop in time and will ended up brown nosing my wide butt.:-D Did i mentioned with deactivated pistons i will be cruising while the ferrari guy will be looking for a gss station. And while trying to catch me and thinking about annual insurance premiums, tune ups, parts replacment cost one will realized bought the wrong car. Than for the same price as ZR1 replacment vette, the Nissan GT R driver will be watching both of us in his rear mirror.:-D Having said all that...i will take the ferrari...sell it right away and get the Vette and the Mustang with money left over for a house down payment. hahahaha.

At a fraction of the price of a ferrari, the corvette will still be running when the ferrari has long blown it's engine or the electrics have failed, or the engine bay has caught fire.

I've also seen 40 year old sunbeam tigers racing at the Aston Martin Owners club track day go past new ferraris and porsches literally like they were standing still. This is also a car with carthorse rear suspension, and a pickup truck engine.

Some things get meaner as they get older :)

Ferrari => overpriced and underpowered ;)
