How did you come up with your user name?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering how you thought up your user name

and what does it mean to you[:)]

I see a lot of very unique and interesting names here

in the club.

Mine is a modification of an earlier nickname I had been given which was Biggus Dickus, in reference to the Monty Python Life of Brian film, plus I am of large frame and my name is Richard. But it got changed after I had a rear suspension failure in a Nissan Cherry Turbo and ended up parking it in a ditch (at a faster speed than i would have liked - about 60mph). So my mates all decided Biggus Ditchus was a little more appropriate.[:D]

To be honest i think my nick Sucks now.

When i first registered on Robys message board i was a compete newbie about Tamiya stuff.

So thought it was a good idea to use tamiyanewbie...

Still dont know a great deal , but i dont think a new nick tamiyaprofessor would be any good [;)]

Don't worry Adam, you're nickname is still very appropriate... [:P]

My nickname is nothing special. I was born, my parents named me Sjoerd and they probably had a very good reason to... [?]

The name Sjoerd is Dutch for 'great Tamiya enthusiast'. At least I think so... [;)]

simonsays is a fun game ([xx(]) where simon tells people what to do - so since my name beeing simen the choice was obvious. Besides, that's my companys name also (www.simensays.com) and as I do design and communication related work, I figured it would be a cool. (me saying/expressing/communicating something)

When I use the MSN messenger, it always says Simen says in the txt output field in front of my comment (cause my user name is Simen and language is set to english (always))

well, the main reason for me picking the name was that I finaly found a name for my company that was avaiable as a domain! LOL [:D]

In Norway where I live the childs game simon says is called "Kongen befaler" which directly translates to The King Commands - perfect match to be a bit modest[:P]

Well, my surname is Fury and I play guitar with a band called Loaded Dice (see my showroom front page for the slightly scary reality) - hence...

It's also (inadvertently) a slight pun on 'Furry Dice', that essential part of any boy-racer's ride (used to be worth at least another 20 brake on a Mk1 Escort back in the 70's [:)] )

Lame but true [:I]

I used to sell "WHIZZER" motorized bicycles, and since they are one cylinder motors... I dubbed 1cyl. It's me eBay ID, and I hate to change it and wear those dumb sunglasses for a month![:(][:(]

The SHO came from my car and the dog part came from the Rapper Short dog. I thought Shodog sounded catchy so I used that.

I use my nickname "ShowRide" for some time now.

The second part "Ride" is used in the states as another word for "car". Besides that I built most of my RCs for display only and if I make one to drive I try to make it something special to "show off" so therefore I guessed "ShowRide" wasn't a bad idea for a nickname... [;)] and to be honoust I like it rather much.

Greetz,

ShowRide

I'm a big fan of Sweedish Metal bands and one of the bands albums is called The Jester Race. I'm big into Joker and Jester related things so that's my story. I always change my handle whenever I join a new board, I hate having the same name for too long.

I own a 1968 American Motors Corporation Javelin SST.

I bought the car in 1979 for the engine that I was going to put into my 1974 Gremlin. After stripping the Javelin, which had an interior fire when I bought it, I though it did not look to bad.

After about 2 years of restoration work, the Javelin was complete.

The engine is 390 cubic inch displacement.

The 5 in 395 comes from the 0.030 overbore as that adds another 5 cubic inches to the displacement.

When I tried to sign up to other forums, the javelin390 and javelinsst were already taken. So I used javelin395 and so far the name has never been rejected or taken by another user.

Its been a fun vehicle........I think I'll be buried in it. [:D]

Well, mine is simply from the job that I had in the Army for 3 years. Cav being short for Cavalry. Was part of an armored cavalry regiment (2nd of the 3rd ACR) and drove Bradley Fighting Vehicles. It sure sounds glorious, but never seen any actual combat, and for every 1 day of driving we did in them, about 2 weeks was spent fixing what you broke in that 1 day! Ahhhh, 3 years of my life that I will never get back.

See ya!

From 1988 to 1999 I owned an auto towing company and my first email account I got in about 1993 (WOW 10 years online!!) was limited to only 8 characters so 'tow master' was shortened to 'twmaster'. I use this as my username just about everywhere I am online with the exception of places I want to be incognito. [;)] Funny part is now I am involved in several online and offline business ventures all which fall under my company name of 'Twmaster & Co.' which gratefully does not seem to mean anything specific as opposed to my original first choice! Cool [8D][^], do you have any pics of it?

Nice topic, this way I found out that my idea that you used this name due to the Kyosho Javelin was wrong! [:)]
