  1. I am bored with this project. Last order of business was to install new tires and body, however I want to move on to something else. Every bolt is present and accouted for. Down to new zip ties all around. The chassis is complete. You wont find a cleaner one out there. I also had a custom hump battery made to fit inside. The radio gear is installed and tested and works great. It is also correct to the period when the car came out. Look at the pics as they speak for themselves. Looking to trade for a Kyosho Optima. Anyone interested, please send me pics of what you got. Your trade must be comparible in condition. Also must have radio gear. Last pic is what I am looking for.
  2. Thanks for the all the help guys! I think it is simple as Lars stated. 5000mah, too much run time. I am getting up to 45 minutes run time. Not enough time for the motor to cool versus the old 1200 ni-cd packs which only gave 5-10 minutes of run time. Plenty of time for the motor to cool between runs. Thanks again, Lars.
  3. Seems the 5000mah is too much for my stock buggy champ causing esc and motor to over heat. Just wanted to get some opinions on what you are are running on yours?
  4. Thanks for the reply, Mate! I think I will go with a different ESC and drop the battery down to 6v instead of 7.2v and see what happens. Or I could just trade it in for a Nikko. We shall see....
  5. I am running a completely stock buggy champ with the stock gearing and black Tamiya 540 motor, ESC TEU-101BK. Battery is a 5000mah Ni-Mh and after about 20 minutes of running the car shuts down. I still have steering servo response but no throttle. I switch the ESC off then on and it works again. ESC, battery, motor and tranny case are all hot to the touch. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, guys.
  6. Your the best sgt.barnes, I gave up on the thread, but I just checked back to find you knew where to locate one! I sent Rayman an email. Thanks again, Mate!
  7. Am I CRAZY?!?!: Well I went to may local hobby store 2 days ago. I walked into the shop and took a look at the top shelf in the RC car section. There they were: The Hornet, The Frog, Buggy Champ and Sand Scorcher. When I was a kid I remember going into the hobby store just to look at the kits, knowing my parents could never afford it. While at the shop that day above, I closed my eyes then re-opened them, still looking at the 4 kits and for seconds if not minutes I went back to 1984. Those kits sat on the shelf and reminded me of how they looked just like in 1984. Once slight change, I can afford them now. One of the attendees even asked me, "Is everything OK", I replied: "It sure is, I will take the Buggy Champ!" Its a great thing Tamiya decided to re-release these kits.
  8. Well I just got the kit, but it seems it requires the 6.6v Tamiya battery. Any one out there fit a regular 7.2V 6 cell with success? Maybe some pics if you have.
  9. Ok, just got done with my Super Clod Buster Build. Cant afford the dual ESC right now so I am using the mechanical. I am using the Futaba servo horn for the throttle with the 2 holes. When I insert the throttle rod in the first hole per the manual the servo throw at full throttle goes past point 3 on the speed controller cutting off power, when I insert the throttle rod into the second hole per the manual to reduce throw, it is now too short at full throttle and not getting enough current. My controller only has adjustment for throw on the steering servo. Any suggestion fellas?
  10. Why join a forum and ask for help when no one is willing?? I am sure many have read this post and have turned the other cheek. Fyi, I did find my answer elsewhere. Lesson learned on www.nohelpforum.com Mods disable my account forever.
  11. Can someone please tell me what frequency is the Tamiya CPR P-80F I was told it was 27Mmhz AM, but I have a 27mhz AM Traxxes controller with channel 4 yellow crystal(Tx and RX) and it is not working.
  12. I remember specifically in 1987 when I ran my Super Champ and the infamous rear A-arm broke. I could not get parts for it. I would run to the local PlayCo. toy store in hope's they would have them, but never did. I remember seeing a Frog on there shelf. I went so far as to make shift a small bracket to connect the broken arms again. Of course it never held up nor did Super Glue. I am curious to hear what you guys did before the net.
  13. It is not. I was doing a search on google for ff01 drag cars and this pic came up. I have the exact same setup but minus the tires. I am trying to replicate the look. Thanks for your help pagedm_f350.
  14. Hello All, I wanted to know if someone here could please identify the front wheels on this ff01 chassis. They seem wide, almost like pan car wheels with foam, but they attach with only a but versus 6 or 5 bolts like a pan car wheel. Any help or maybe a similiar wheel that can achieve this look would be greatly appreciated!
  15. It seems every couple of months Tamiya re-releases a kit. I just saw that the "Frog" was re-released. Will they re-release the Hilux or any other 3 speed?
