I've just tried to order two of these bad boys to put in my Twin Detonator (just purchased from Scoobyben - thanks mate). I've had to look really hard to find them, as they are apparently discontinued now.

When I called and tried to specify that I wanted one forward and one reverse motor, the guy told me that they had changed now and you no longer needed a forward and a reverse - you just had to reverse the wires on one of the motors to make it turn in the other direction.

I explained that I thought that this would result in the reversed motor going slower than the other one (due to timing), but he said that this wouldn't be the case as the new version of this motor didn't operate this way.

What do you think? Was this guy just going for the sale, or have Kyosho brought out a new one that is different to the old one? [?]

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unless the motors have no advanced timing then you dont need one forward and one reversed motor... but the magnetic mayhem motors do have timing and therefore you need one reverse motor and on normal.

That's what I thought - thanks.

Only problem I have now is where to find them. Kyosho have discontinued them and Ripmax don't have any more to distribute (I've had several LHS try to order them for me).

Anyone know where I might find a pair?

Contact Kyosho. I emailed Efrain Manzano (Efrain@kyoshoamerica.com) at Kyosho America who said he talked to upper management about reinstating the Mad Science series motors if there was enough interest. I've gotten several other people to email him, but the last I'd heard anything back from him was two weeks ago. I don't know if anything will come of it or not, but it seemed worth a try. It might be better for you to contact a Kyosho rep from your region instead of Kyosho America though. That way, they'll see that the interest is more widespread than a handful of crazy Americans.

Other than that, there's probably a few still in stock at local shops that haven't sold off their remaining stock yet.

Thanks mate - I've sent him an email (including the fact that I am in the uK), showing my support for a rerelease, but I don't hold out *too* much hope.

Still, fingers crossed.[;)]

I've just had a response on this, as follows:

"Jason,

Thanks for the email I am trying to do my best here to bring back this series of motors.

Thanks for the interest……

Kyosho Corporation of America"

About what I expected, but at least I got a reply..

I've mailed him too now. If enough of us pester, then at least it should demonstrate that there is still some demand for them.

I got a response from Efrain, with information on direct ordering some stock of Mayhems that they still have. If anyone wants more detail, contact me and I will send you the info..

Xismxist, I've not seen the 600BBSP motors, have you got more details on why they are better (more torque, more power?)
