This is really odd. My "new massages" tab is displaying in the negative!.

My box is 64% empty, nothing unread in there...

It's me.
My name is Andy and I steal PMs

No idea why it happens chap, but it does eventually sort itself out.

I'll send you three PMs from my collection now, feel free to delete them and you should (hopefully) be back at 0

I have the same issue, I just thought it was a hyphen, then I noticed I had no messages.

Weird.

It's not deleting them on it's own that causes it - I've just deleted 31 'inbox' and 5 'sent' and am still at 0 messages.
The easiest way to solve the problem that I know of is to send each other PMs until the counter goes to zero, then delete them.
Did that with B.M.T. and it worked fine.

One other thing to try is logging out, clearing internet files and logging back in.

NO IDEA

Had 7 PMs today, replied to six of them, and am now on minus 4
Haven't deleted any, since my last post and it was all normal this morning.

Just deleted the four oldest, still on -4

Hi folks, I'm back to -1 again for some bizarre reason, but I've fixed it myself having read Twinset's earlier post.

I sent myself a pm, opened it, then deleted it & back to 0 :P

@Twinset; I don't think it's affected by your browser cache, I see the same numbers from 3 diffrent machines & with both Internet Exploder & Firefox.

Nope, I think you're right
One thing that did seem to contribute was deleting unread PMs - I'll send you a couple, delete them both without opening them, just to see what happens...

AHA !!!

You might be onto something here;

2 PM's deleted without opening as instructed - lo & behold I have -2 messages.

By Jove, I think you've cracked it Watson! :P

Cool.
I don't think that's the sole reason for it though, as I rarely delete PMs, until the box is full, but it's certainly a contributor.

Hmmm... I know I read all mine, but it might be something to do with hitting the back button, instead of returning to inbox the other way....

Might cause a conflict in the system. If you go "back" the message is regarded as unread, but if you've deleted it, well... it confuses the system, much like I am now.. :P

Quite possible.
Change your habits and let us know
I usually 'new window' everything, so rarely use the back button
Pointless PMs sent

I had them all read, but still darker blue from going back, and then I went forward and marked them all read... Poo.

But, I only had the problem the once. You'd think every time I got a pm it'd do it, if it was me....

Yup, dunno
I read yours, 'backed' then deleted it, and I'm on zero now - so it's not that.

All good fun :P

I'm magically on -8 now :)

Doesn't bother me... I might see how low I can get it.

Nice one
There's definitely something else causing them, but there doesn't seem to be a pattern to the 'disappearances'

Bragging about low negatives will only be tolerated if accompanied by screenshots
I'm on '0' currently
