To make a picture appear here which has been hosted in your TCPhotos section, read on.

Ok, the terminology;

Image coding - bit of special interweb wordage to make a TCPhoto visible here
Image title - what the image is 'called' in TCPhotos
Image tags - internet speak for code that makes the picture visible


Assuming you want the large (800 pixels wide) picture to show up, the image coding is;
http ://www.tcphotos.com/pc_userimages/
(please note: there's a space after http that I've put there to make all this legible - you don't need to use the space - it won't work if you do!)


Then you need your own TC membership number (mine's 169)
http ://www.tcphotos.com/pc_userimages/169/

Then, you need the image title.
This is all the text from "img" onwards in the address bar when you're looking at the large pic.

Here's the web address of the pic below;
http ://www.tcphotos.com/getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_15102004222250_6.jpg

So, copy "img" onwards and paste in on the end of the coding
http ://www.tcphotos.com/pc_userimages/169/img169_15102004222250_6.jpg

Once you got all that, add the front and end image tags and it should show up as a picture;

Thanks to these instructions I can add photos to the forum but it's still a bit tricky. Would it be possible to have a button next to each photo on TCPHOTOS that could automatically generate the required link for us? We could then just CUT and PASTE the link into the forum easily. I use www.jpegbay.com to host my photos ( for free! ) for eBay listings and that has a similar system which is very easy to use.

Good idea in theory, depends on how easy it is to implement as the TCPhotos site is custom built rather than off the shelf software. The idea has been passed along to Chris.

I've noticed that copy/paste of the links from this forum to build up your url can pull in some corruption. I'd try typing in the url manually from scratch.

the forum abbreviates long links automatically, so what should be seen as this;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p4069.m570.l1313&_nkw=tamiya+sand+scorcher&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Gets shortened to this;
http://www.ebay.co.u...cat=0&_from=R40

Copying a link will probably lead to problems, unless you click the link and copy the actual link from the page the link points to.
The other option (in Windows at least) is right click the link and select Copy Link Location from the pop-up box.

However, copying anything from a code box like this;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p4069.m570.l1313&_nkw=tamiya+sand+scorcher&_sacat=0&_from=R40

means you'll get the whole link (which is why I did it that way )

Weird stuff happens for me when I try to copy from a box and then add in my user and image details. Just tried a test and, of course, it worked! I'll butt out but might give you a shout next time it happens and leave the post in situ for you. Ta, J

I use this thread everytime I need to link to TCP and have never had a problem copying
Only copy the text in the highlighted code boxes though, the other 'links' have redundant spaces in them to stop the forum software abbreviating the text

Does it make a difference if the photo is in a "secure" folder on TC Photos ?

My complete computer incompetence may be to blame, I'll have the resident techno expert (wife) give me a hand when time allows .
