ever had any import duty problems from Hobbyking ?

Once, and as it happened it was the package with the rado system in it, along with brushless motors, lipo's etc - i think i got stung for about £24 including handling fee. Hobbyking allow you to set the declaration value as a percentage of the real value. Last package i had was Saturday, value $26, which was 30% of the true retail value. Soem of their radio sets are available from their German warehouse now, so avoids all chance of import suties :)
History for last 30 months.. bought too many, not sold enough - current stable 46 EEK

I've been using a a Core Code 2.4Ghz stick system for a while - seems excellent - lots of functions if you want them, 15 model memory, and fits into your price requirement.

Available from Modelsport for £84 Modelsport Core Code CR138

Please can you tell me how far apart the centres of the two sticks are in mm?

I like the Futaba Attack-R / Hitec Ranger Sky / Acoms AP227 MK1/2/3 sized control where the sticks are 90mm apart (Attack-R) and 93mm apart (Ranger III / Ranger 3 FM Sky 40MHz) and 92.5mm apart (Acoms MK3).

The Futaba T6XS has the sticks 103mm apart, I assume it's the same measurement on the 4YF, 4VWD, etc, which feels significantly less comfortable for me personally as I have smaller hands.

Cheers,

You only need to bind the radio to the receiver once.

Ahh, many thanks for that, I wasn't aware of that (also confirmed in a forums search).

Once I find a comfortable and affordable 2.4GHz sticks set I will go for one I think.

Need to find one where the sticks are around 90mm apart, as the aeroplane / Heli 6+ channel sets have the sticks too far apart for me to be really comfortable using it. That's why I like the old 2 channel AM ones such as Attack-R, Ranger III, Acoms MK3 etc (well Ranger is FM not AM) where the sticks are closer together.

I can't measure one because I don't own one, but they are small, the casing is probably smaller than many Acoms/Futaba 2-channel sets.

Personally speaking I hate the feel in the hand, but I have large hands and I'm used to a 3VC.

I suspect that the distance between the sticks is less important than the relative dimensions, weight and balance point of the case.

Could be LOL. I got this reply back from ModelSport when I asked them about the "CR151 Core RC Code 2.4GHz 3-Channel FHSS LCD Stick Combo" that they sell ;-

"Wouldn't it be the distance between the edge of the transmitter to the stick that matters, as this is where your hands will be holding it, rather than the distance between the 2 sticks?

Anyway, it's 100mm."

LOL

Hi All,

I have an Acoms AP2402 2.4ghz set, which comes with a GR-24 receiver. Please can someone tell me that, if I buy another GR-24 receiver and place it in a second car, I can use the same handset to control either car? I've noticed that some transmitters refer to multi- model memory, i.e. as mentioned earlier in this thread, and the AP2402 doesn't appear to have one so I'm not sure if that means I can only use one transmitter to one reciever.

@SingleSeven. Yes you can use the same transmitter, just got this set myself and picked up an extra receiver for £23 posted which I thought was really good. You just switch on the transmitter and then the car of your choice and you are ready to go. (after intial receiver set up, which only needs done once :D )

No problem,It worked out cheaper than buying the 27Mhz system. This seems to be a good budget 2.4 system :)

Hi, can you tell me the distance between the centres of the 2 sticks please? And how wide the Transmitter (TX) is in total?

Also, does the TX have any special features like EPA (ATV) etc? I assume it at least has 2 servo reversers, one per channel.

What power cells / battery does the TX use?

Cheers,

@LiveSteamMad, The transmitter takes 4 AA batteries, I will get the measurements for you tomorrow. , Oh and just the servo reverse on both sides and a digital trim. Another feature I thought was cool is that you can change the sticks over from left to right so the throttle would be on the right and steering on the left. It tells you how to do it in the instructions.

Edit2Add: fuzzy photo, sorry bout the quality of this picture,

Although you can bind a transmitter easily to multiple receivers - since that transmitter does not have a model memory, you will be resetting the trims (and any other settings you may have changed) every time you switch to a different model. This can be a bit of a nuisance.

Thanks Sosidge, I wondered what the model memory was for. This system only has the trims and servo reverse, so not much to set up when you change cars.

90mm between sticks from centre to centre. and around 170mm at widest part of transmitter, hope that helps. ;)

Ansmann W5 . Its just a budget system but works well with the Etronix brushless 4370kv and 60amp Esc .

Are there any of these 2.4GHz stick radios that I can order from a more affordable source like Hong Kong ? Anyone got some links?

MUST be 2 axis only (left stick throttle, can't be moved left right, and right stick steering, can't be moved up/down) or if someone has steering / throttle gates available that would also be fine.

Cheers,
