Currently I re-size images to keep within 499k and the images on my posts are tiny. Most other users post nice big clear images that don't need to be opened in order to see them. I have tried a search for this answer with no luck and I dare not annoy other users by boosting my threads and just trying bigger uploads to see what works.
Please let me how this is done? Thank you.

If you attach images to your post, then the pics are small until the reader clicks on them, then they are shown full size.
To show them any larger you need to host them externally, using either photobucket or imageshack.us.
The largest image the forums show within a thread is 640 pixels wide, anything larger then opens in a new window once clicked
Below are two examples of the same pic - the first 'attached' to the post, the second hosted externally (in a TC showroom)
Forum attachment;
Externally hosted;

Done. Thanks guys. I finally worked it out. It just took me a while to find that Insert Image icon. You must get sick of answering the same questions aye? I do appreciate your assistance.

Cool I'm famous at last
, just to hijack the thread a bit more, I think I failed to add a pic in the FAV thread, as I've just started using a mac and iphoto, I found a way that said it reduced the jpeg for websites and the image was on said mac not in the showroom. It reduced it to a small file but was blank. I've added jpegs to the forum for my old sony laptop before I got the showroom, without the fail, it seemed simple then using photoshop. Any mac users with any tips? Thanks in advance, cheers. I should just add to the showroom then do the img tag thing being sensible, told you I was slow

How do I turn this: http://www.tamiyaclu...231_35J5M_1.jpg
Into an embedded image in a post, not a link?
i.e. what's the source URL to use to avoid hitting the "no dynamic URL" constraint?
TIA.

You need to use this;
The two 12231 bits are vital; the first one is the user's TC membership number, so if you use pics from someone else's showroom, that first 12231 will need changing along with the img12231... bit
12231/img12231_35J5M_1.jpg is the text that needs to change for each pic, unless they're all from 12231's showroom
Your membership number, for instance, is 16152 - if you were linking to pics in your showroom it'd be ...16152/img16152...

why is it that sometimes I can use my picassa link to insert a picture and at other times I get an error?

No idea. Without seeing the address for a pic that does work and one that doesn't, it'll be difficult to say
Having just tried that pic above though, the error is; Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed - try googling that or see if Picassa has anything on it
Pretty sure the problem is with the way Picassa is set up, as opposed to an issue with TC

It's in the uploaded filename where a character has been replaced with "%" that causes the Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed error. Remove the % signs from the url and the error goes away (but the link is wrong).No idea. Without seeing the address for a pic that does work and one that doesn't, it'll be difficult to say

If you can upload the file to the hosting site without it having the filename changed, then the [IMG] link will work. Most times it's a space, or an invalid character. Replace spaces in filenames with underscores _ , and only use 0-9 and a-z characters.

Using Twinset's example above you need just the filename and the user id to work out the direct image URL.
Firstly all the TC showroom photos are host here: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/tc_userimages/
Then you need to look at the filename img24_30122011034119_9.jpg to get the users ID which is 24 (img24_30122011034119_9.jpg)
Once you have that info you can put it together into a complete URL:
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/tc_userimages/ and 24/ and img24_30122011034119_9.jpg
which gives you http://www.tamiyaclu...011034119_9.jpg. Wrap that URL in tags and you get the image to display.

I'd like to make a build thread on the forum from my tundra documented build on tc photos, how do I post those externally hosted photos ?
My album:

The TC Photo hosting is stored in this http://www.tcphotos.com/pc_userimages/ location.
So the full URL is http://www.tcphotos.com/pc_userimages/ + user ID/ + filename
Or http://www.tcphotos.com/pc_userimages/ 7434/ img7434_30122011205220_1.jpg
(no spaces of course)

To make it easy for me to always remember the 2 URLs. I opened up notepad, pasted the 2 different locations in 2 different lines, then saved the file in My Documents as "TC_URL_Format.txt". I then went and made the file read only. When I need to post up a photo on the forum I open the file and substitute in the correct filename for the photo and copy/paste it into the thread. Has saved me a lot of time searching for the URLs over the last few years.
