Without wishing to open up the manuals debate again, I was just wondering what the policy is on TC forums for linking (or directing people) to manuals on other sites?
I notice Lars has the manuals on his site still - can we point people to his site?

I normally point people elsewhere via links in PMs, rather than posting links here.
I'm sure Tamiya HQ already know about a lot of the other sites, but the less advertising via forum traffic the better AFAIC

It's pretty much covered in the rules;
19. Due to recent legal issues, no reproduction parts are to be advertised, or advertised for, on any part of Tamiyaclub. Adverts for reproductions of (but not limited to) decals, bodyshells, driver figures, tyres and photocopied/scanned manuals are all banned. This is for products from all manufacturers, not just Tamiya
Links to sites distributing manuals will also be removed.

No linking to sites containing manuals, except for Tamiya's own site, http://www.tamiyausa...x...page=1&dir=
If it's not there, google it or complain to Tamiya

We must insist that manuals or links to manuals, artwork for decals or associated links are not published on this site anywhere.

OK - I was pretty sure that was the case. Thanks.
BTW - your last link is broken - it seems to have got shortened with a "..." in the middle?
If you feel that this topic might open the issue up again, feel free to delete it...

"As part of the agreement that Chris made with Tamiya, TC will not facilitate the trading of repro goods, either by allowing direct advertising or by allowing posting links to sites in response to wanted ads and general enquiries."
In return for the above what did Tamiya grant TC? TC can keep all the profit from the sale of its repro decals and assessories?
I can see down loading manual or decal productions on an enterprise level even for a fan club will have an enforcable legal issue, but providing info on where repros are available is illegal too?
A Club should do the right thing, but it should proivde benefits for its paying members provided is legal. This club provides lots of valuable feed back to Tamiya from what they are doing right, what needs improvements, to what we think they are doing wrong. So what in it for TC in reaching this agreement? Chris was retained by Tamiya at $100k per year as their global consultant or he gets 2 of every single models that comes out for life.

Have you even read this? http://www.tamiyaclu...showtopic=62588"As part of the agreement that Chris made with Tamiya, TC will not facilitate the trading of repro goods, either by allowing direct advertising or by allowing posting links to sites in response to wanted ads and general enquiries."

You're confusing 'legal' with 'allowed on TC' - linking to downloaded manuals on most sites will not result in a custodial sentence, a fine or even an official warning by a member of any country's police forceI can see down loading manual or decal productions on an enterprise level even for a fan club will have an enforcable legal issue, but providing info on where repros are available is illegal too?
However, it's not allowed on TC, have you even read this? http://www.tamiyaclu...showtopic=62588
Isn't the continued existence of the club a benefit, even without manuals?A Club should do the right thing, but it should proivde benefits for its paying members provided is legal.
As far as I'm aware, no paid-up member has requested their subscription be cancelled as a result of this
This club provides lots of valuable feed back to Tamiya from what they are doing right, what needs improvements, to what we think they are doing wrong.
A claim never proven or disproven; Tamiya have been around far longer than Tamiyaclub, so they musta been ok without 'us'
TC gets to continue to exist and it's owner avoids legal action - have you even read this? http://www.tamiyaclu...showtopic=62588So what in it for TC in reaching this agreement?
In order to fully grasp the situation, try reading this; http://www.tamiyaclu...showtopic=62588

Take it easy Mr. Moderator, don't bite my head off for not reading all the regulations. I am just asking. You are sounding like some members commenting in the forum "this topic has been dicussed before."
I know is not illegal to direct to other site where down loading is possible, why TC decided to make it not possible? Or is because directing to other site will lead them into trouble and is better for downloaders or repro buyers do their own search?
It may be true no paying member ask for their money back, but for 15quit would you bother or in TC rule somewhere it states no refund....(I haven't read that) or just not renew the membership next year. Of all the member currently listed. How many are active? how many are actual paying members and how many have continue to be paying members or renew his subscription every year?
Does that mean for related site, TC will delete them since down load features are still available for some sites? I haven't check the other sites, maybe they too decided not premit down loading or reproduction of anykind.
Tamiya existed way before TC that is a fact, and they sure can do without TC, but what company will not utlitlize a free of charge survey to gauge its product. So it is better for Tamiya to have TC around with its 30K
plus members or at least comments from the European perspectives.

Again, try reading this; http://www.tamiyaclu...showtopic=62588
In case that involves too much effort to read, it is made not possible by an agreement between Netsmith and Tamiya
As Netsmith was the only one facing legal action, it is 100% his decision what is allowed and what isn't.
For someone that commented so much on the problem at the time, I find it difficult to comprehend why you are asking these questions now, for any other reason than to stir up the issue again - linking to sites where repro goods, decals and manuals etc is banned on TC - that won't change until Netsmith says so - if there is a problem with that, I suggest you take it up with either him or Tamiya.
