Thanks. In that case, I'm assuming your chassis isn't modified, is it? I suspect the unmodified chassis does not allow the stock rear shocks to reach their maximum length. Would you please verify this for me? And this may also explain why nobody else has reported drivetrain problems so far even with longer shocks installed - they all can't benefit from the longer shocks as the unmodified chassis itself sets them limits anyway.

my kit is stock apart from the motor esc system and damper seal kit , just had a double check and my rear shocks are at full extension on or off the car, took one off to see and its still the same length , the only limiting factor is ,when i have the damper ride height adjusters wound down to the 5mm point they do hit part of the rear roll cage mounting point that lies directly behind the dampers when viewed from the side , apart from this they give full travel . i have been having a look around to see if there was a change to the dampers during production as my kit is quite new but i cant find anything that indicates a change .

that is strange , i wonder if your gearbox isn't seated right down on the chassis properly perhaps? , i just checked mine again and span it up to full throttle with the 10.5 and its the same right through the full suspension stroke , definitely worth having a good poke about to see if anything else is amiss . .

that would be cool, it is rather oddly over built in the drive line, i do remember kyosho cars having very soft metal dogbones and cups in the past , the stub axles always seemed to bend easily compared with others too , although , i havent noticed any of these issues with the sand master yet ,
look forward to seeing any mods you come up with ,

I took the gearbox apart and couldn't see anything wrong at the first glance. All the internal gears are still fine (they are made of metal and have a very beefy pitch). The differential (4 spider gear design) is fine as well. The diff outdrives are held in place with washers and pins, which is very different from what I've seen on Tamiya gearboxes so far. I've no idea how to utilize regular splined Tamiya diff outdrives in this Kyosho diff.
To sum this up: The gearbox isn't broken, and I don't know how to fix the design faults in the rear suspension.

looks very sturdy ,
given that my drive shafts dont rub and i get full suspension travel ,we can assume there is something which is not quite right on your car , if the gearbox is seated right down on the chassis , the shock tower is fitted correctly, the damber shaft ends are screwed right on everything should be good to go, i cant see anything else on the rear end that would cause the drive shafts to touch the outdrives

Further investigation turned out the diff outdrives and wheel rear axle cups to be shot. This must have happened due to the twisted dogbones.
I would like to know if there's any source for these single parts? I don't see the point paying 19 € for the whole diff bag EZ009 and 24 € for the complete rear hubs assembly bag EZ007 just for the cups.
EDIT: I see Tamiya DB-01 bevel gear diff outdrives #51472 share the pin design with Kyosho's outdrives. However, I'll need to know the exact dimensions to see if this could be used as a replacement.

@alfagta: I'll consider this site for buying Kyosho spare parts in the future.
