I've had a great day working on this today . I set the work bench up in the garden and really cracked on with the build . The chassis and floor are now mounted and pop rivited in . The extra strength this has added is amazing . The hull is very very torsionally stable now but still light . I have a lot of fiberglass work to do to form the inner wheel arches and tidy everything up to make it water tight but its a heck of a lot further on than it was . Hopefully we'll get some decent weather tommorow so i can work outside again because the fiber glass fumes are really over powering . I've just gone to take some photos but the camera needs charging . I'll take some progress shots asap .

I'm glad you had a good project day. I've had that bogged down "there's so much to do" feeling with projects where you start to question if it's worth carrying on. Then you get a day like you had yesterday and suddenly it all starts coming together and feels great. Think how good it'll be when you take it for its first run! Can't wait to see how this is progressing.
I assume you've decided what tyres to go with but Ive found the 2.2 proline flatirons are a pretty good look on my 1/6 Willis Jeep. Theyre virtually the same diameter as the kit tyres but almost double the width. Saying that if your up for a bit of tyre narrowing you could get them looking pretty close to scale Jeep tyres. With the centre section removed their tread design wouldn't be far off that classic Jeep alternating blocks look. It's something I'm thinking about for my project... Although I'm quite happy with the current OTT chunky monkey look : )

I think i've settled on these tyres . Their 90mm dia and quite narrow so should look something like . The GPA like most ww2 jeeps had fairly small wheels and from the images i have these look close to scale . http://www.ebay.co.u...254596009736307

I've had to put this on the back burner for a while due to work commitments . Hopefully i'll be able to make some progress next weekend when i have some downtime . The inner hull/chassis is almost fully fabricated and ready for the fiberglass to make it 100% water tight . Once done i can get the motors , drive and prop shaft fitted .

I'am affraid this is firmly on the hold for now . I'am sorry but its just not a priority at the moment . I've put a lot of work into it and i'll finish it but its a question of having the time . Hopefully things will calm down work wise but we're getting into the holiday period and i'am having to bust a gut in my new role just to ensure all my sites and shifts are covered . It will swim one day - i promise .
