The TEU-104BK. It's a tricky little beast isn't it. Does anyone know how to reset it to 'factory settings'?
I was running a car with it earlier in the day, no probs. I then tried to install an AM receiver instead of the Corona 6ch FM syntheser receiver I had been using.
No go (see below). So I reverted back to the synth receiver, and then couldn't get it to run the motor. It was getting signal from the receiver because the steering servo was fine, it just wouldn't run the motor. Everything was cool, so no thermal cutout issue.
Tried all sorts of setup routines as per the manual, without luck. Checked all connections, substituted other components, normal checks. mystery.
Then I went back out an hour later and it works fine.
Question: I'm interested in why ESCs (the 4 I've tried anyway) won't work with AM receivers. Servos (non-digital) don't mind what's sending the signal , so why are ESC's so picky?

I've had no issues with the TEU101-BK or TEU104-BK ESCs with Futaba R122JE (discontinued) and R162JE AM 27mhz or 29mhz receivers. The R152JE doesn't like them though (No BEC in the receiver). All 4 of my kids are using these combinations, and a couple of my cars too.
Receivers used with these tamiya ESCs must have an internal BEC. The voltage supplied to the receiver on the red/black wire BATT connector is what ever the pack voltage is (7.2v or 7.4v is too much for most servos and receivers without BEC).
