M Pro, can you tell me what you used to apply the deals, as in, what did you use to position them or did you just do it by eye? I have heard warm water with a tiny bit of washing up liquid works a treat?

I will definitely be building mine, i cannot wait to get those gorgeous Pink wheels out and on show! :)

The way I did it was to cut them out, then peel a little bit of the backing paper off and then I cut off that part of the paper leaving that part bare.

Then I lined it up on the body using the paper backed part and once in place I stick down the part that has no backing paper and then slowly peel off the backing paper off the rest while slowly applying it on the body :-)

Doing it this way meant if I didn't line it up right at first I could just peel it off again and then go again

Hope that make sense

That is exactly the same method as i have used since i was 11 haha It does work but i was just a little unsure with those large Silver decals as they look pretty menacing! I guess being vinyl they adhere to the contours of the body without creasing/bubbling/lifting as yours look to be perfect?

The large silver ones are menacing! as when it goes around the main curve you have to stretch it a little to keep it flat... I had to redo mine to get it just right... not good for the heart :-)

Love this, such a wonderful neat job. I feel your pain on the decals, i did my Boxart 2011 a couple of weeks ago and did sweat a bit. Cant find any pink wheels, so i plummed for a set of white to try.
Did you use a RIT dye on the wheels, as, if the white look a bit hoopty, ill have to dye them. Im doing a BS body as a bit of a change for my own display only 2011, but, still reckon ill end up buying a fuill BS kit lol.

Some people use a heat gun/hair dryer or some other method to slightly heat the decal so that is follows the contours more evenly. I have also read about some solution you can buy that softens the decals so that when applied they conform to the body's intricate contours more easily. Not sure if this would be wise on this particular model, i think the 'stretching' method maybe best?? I have bought an additional set of BS decals just in case though

Well my new wheels arrived today and in the pot they went

Posted Image

Had to rig something up so they were not touching the bottom

Posted Image

Yummy allmost ready

Posted Image

And all done

Posted Image

You have to ask yourself

What’s stopping someone getting loads of the white ones and then dyeing them black and then selling them on ebay as egress wheels.. that’s if it’s not happening already

Posted Image

So now I have two sets of black wheels

The new ones i did here for my black avante and the old ones I think ill use on my Avante 2011 runner ;)

BTW: The pink wheels look much better than the black.

I say the blue one as all others he left it unpainted. But then I think Tamiya Era might be right as the 2nd on from right looks to be technigold motor but I can't tell as it's hard to see

That looks spot on, can you divulge how and what you are using to acheive this finish?

Get some Rit dye from ebay

1 Suspended the wheels in the pot so they not touching the bottom
2 add water to the pot "enough to cover the wheels
3 bring water to the boil
4 add enough dye to turn the water black and not dark purple
5 add wheels and lower temp so its simmering
6 leave them in there till you are happy with the colour and keep them moving
7 once done add to cold water and remove any old dye

To get a good black I had to leave them in for about an hour :-)

also the decal says so on the 2nd from right :)

I would say this is correct because of the lower brackets on the rear shock tower (and the motor).

2nd from the right, Bel-Ray decal, Technigold motor but the picture isn't good enough to see in proper detail. The rear damper brackets would be a definite give away but i cannot make them out clearly enough.

Those wheels looks good but surely when you remove the excess sprue will there not be a White dot left on the wheel or does this dye actually impregnate the plastic far enough to negate this? Just going on what you said earlier about people possibly doing this although the $ has fallen out of the original wheels anyway. I don't think many are stupid enough to pay the old prices but then again, $34,000 worth of numpty fell for that Bruiser re issue scam so i guess there is a possibility!!!!!!! Deary me!

Oh and i think the Pink wheels look better by the way. To me these glorious things were the whole reason to get this particular buggy, certainly not for that onerous Silver decal! :)
