While trawling through my collection of decals I stumbled across this decal sheet. I am aware that the decals are for the F1 tobacco livery for the JPS Lotus and for the Mclaren M28 both from 1979.
I just do not have a clue as to which kit or bodyset this decal sheet came with, if it did at all!! It could well be part of some static kit.

I have attached a photo below :-

Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the help guys in trying to get this one sorted.

Willy, it is not for the Road Wizard as I have had this as a NIB kit. It is not aftermarket as it has the Tamiya stamp etc on the back!

58020, JPS maybe? Look for some numbers on the sheet, it should say which model.

It is not the 58020 JPS as the decal sheet to that one is different & as far as numbers are concerned, Just what can be seen in the photos.. :-(

no he's right, its not Wizard or the JPS '79 CS... they've got a gold pinstripe around some panels & numbers are different

perhaps Tamiya issued an addendum sheet for inclusion in contries where ciggy advertising wasn't banned?

pretty unique to have both brands on 1 sheet

Clearly the decal sheet is for more than 1 model. 1979 JPS Lotus at the top and M28 McLaren at the bottom (text at the bottom of each section shows this). Could it be possible that this was an optional part in countries that had banned tabacco advertising at the time, and this was to make the model complete? Searching on google images I can find examples of 58020 both with and without the tobacco advertising.

Static kits usually have water slide decals.

Willy, I think, you may well be right in it being an additional addendum sheet.........

It definitely is a unique piece. When I first acquired it I did not think it was even Tamiya and thought it was one of the tobacco livery decals made by another manufacturer

Mark, Is there any way in telling if it is a waterslide decal sheet?

Look in one of the corners. Being an older decal sheet, the corners should have lifted/separated slightly. RC decals are more like stickers (or a sheet of clear book covering contact with print on it). Water slide decals don't have complete covering of adhesive sheet, they're just the individual decals. You need to cut out the backing sheet of each individual decal then soak the decal in a water bath so they will slide off the backing paper onto the model.

Looking at the picture you have, they look like stickers to me.

I dont see Tamiya anywhere on them - would this possibly indicate they aren't Tamiya?

I too think these are stickers

They are definitely Tamiya as the decal sheet has the Tamiya stamp on the rear. I have attached a photo below showing the flip side.
