I seem to really struggle with searching on the forum, can never find what I'm looking for <_<

Anyway, I remember reading about using "gel pens" for tyre lettering, and wanted to re-read some info before ordering a craft type gel pen from the bay.

If anyone has some info, or a link that would be most appreciated

Cheers

Hi, can't help with the thread your after, but I was curious about white markers for tyres so went searching and found a marker at my local newsagent that seems to work very well ... so far anyway.

It's a uni - PAINT marker , 0.8 - 1.2 mm tip and the ref # on it is PX-21. It's uses an oil based paint and seems happy to mark on anything ... hope this may help as an alternative if you get stuck.

Oh, and it was under $5.00. <_<

Cheers mate, yeah I've got and tried the uni-paint markers before, I've also tried the toothpick and paint method, but remember seeing photos using the gel pens and results were awesome. The last ones I did with humberol enamel and toothpick have ended up turning a bit grey on my Avante.

If no one knows anything, I may just order one (have found quite a few craft pens used for card making and scrapbooking) and see how it goes.

Been a little while, but if anyone is interested, I bought a Gel pen from an office supply store the other day to try on some tyres:

The Pen is a "uni-ball signo white pigment ink". Interestingly it is a ball point pen with a stainless ball, but the ink flows very well. For the effort involved here (less than 5 mins a tyre) I'm pretty ecstatic with the result, at least for the shelf anyway.

Yeah, the gel pens work very well. I use this one "Gelly Roll", it also is a ball point pen, but as you found out, the ink flows well into the tire lettering... Your Super Grippers look perfect!

Ah yes, that was the thread I was originally looking for (I see I even posted in that thread with the ole toothpick method). I'm guessing the pen I ended up with is very similar to your gelly roll, and yes, amazingly simple to get a great result.

Officeworks mate, less than $10 for a 2 pack.

May stick these on my white Hotshot, still undecided though, maybe a new project, wonder how they'd look on a Turbo Optima ;)

With hex adaptors of course, they would look unreal on the Hot Shot. Hybrids look unreal full stop (period for USA readers).....

I'm glad you put a wink smiley next to the Optima remark, Kyosho lynch mob would be heading for your door

Off topic, but you were spot on about the Crows this year, you should be stoked and great call btw.
