Been on the UK news today, an artist has R/C'd his dead cat;

A Dutch artist has turned his dead cat Orville into a helicopter - which he calls the Orvillecopter.
Bart Jansen had his pet stuffed after he was hit by a car before enlisting the help of radio control helicopter flier Arjen Beltman to build the unique machine.
The Orvillecopter - "half cat, half machine" - is now on show at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam, the Dutch capital.
Mr Jansen said after a period of mourning he decided to pay tribute to Orville, named after the famous aviator Orville Wright, with the art project.
The Orvillecopter does not fly quite right, but Mr Jansen said he will receive more powerful engines and larger propellers for his birthday, allowing for a more "steady flight".
He said Orville will soon be "flying with the birds".
"Oh how he loved birds," he said. "He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. So this hopping will soon change into steady flight."

I have to agree, it is strange.
I watched The Terminator the other night and that was a similar design, how long till we see humans like this, My wife is dead but now she does the dishes, and now she wont moan if I spend all my money on R/C's

The thing that puts the final nail in the "oh come on, really?!" coffin for me are his claims that it's to honor his pet. After all, nothing says loving sentiment like scooping the guts out of a beloved pet and cramming in electronics so you can fly his hollow corpse around the yard for fun and profit.

Reminds me of an episode on t.v, I think it was Dom joly where he is asking the taxidermist if he will stuff his granny(she was still alive and with him), it was a live camera comedy show called trigger happy T.V

I did edit (after much head-shaking and promises to the dog that I'd be quite a bit less crazy in the event of his death).
It would almost be better if he'd just said: "I did it for shock value". It'd still be weird, but at least the logic would make sense.

I laughed my butt off, and felt a little disturbed... seems like just another form of taxidermy which i find a little disturbing myself.

At least he appreciated the cat and didn't harm it...

At least, as art, it's a little more practical than half a sheep in formaldehyde or an unmade bed
You're right about the taxidermy though, one of the local pubs has display cases full of 'dioramas' involving at least two dead animals

I've nothing too much against taxidermy but it's the way it's been done here that I have a problem with. It's like he's mocking the animal after it's death.

In all the published interviews it's portrayed more of a work of sentimentality than anything, but I guess once it's 'art' or done by an artist, they can say what they like and it's difficult to argue with 'em - It's like those squares of a single colour - I never got those either.

Had this been done by someone who wasn't an artist, they'd no doubt be a 'macabre sicko'

This is similar to The Human Body World Exhibit, which appeared in the first Daniel Craig Bond film. Slicing the human body like a loaf of bread is OK for exhibit? The human side of me sees it strange, but the logic side of me is so what a flying cat. People wear fur coats, leather shoes,belts,coat,seats,wallet etc...we all have been using animal parts for one reason or another. I think the logic side of me won out and I think is OK, but I wouldn't do the same if I had a cat or dog.

I see no mention of who was driving the car that started this twisted chain of events. Was Orville found in his garage by any chance? Not that he strikes me as unstable in any way...............
