I was thinking about picking one of these up as a more-advanced basher than most of Tamiya's stuff, but now they are running a $25 rebate at Tower Hobbies, in addition to Tower coupon savings of $30. That's $55 off an already reasonable $298 price, or $243 for a built, brushless mini-monster capable of going 65mph out of the box. Pretty strong...I am in.

Paul-
Sorry to took me so long to get back to you. I got the Savage, and was very excited to try it out. I dropped in a Venom 4000mah 2s LiPo I had (only one I had with T connector), and outside I went to try it in the street/yard. The review above is accurate...this thing is ridiculously fast out of the box, so much so that it becomes almost unstable at speed, and it's easy to traction roll it on pavement. I can't imagine how fast it would be on 3s...would be nearly uncontrollable. Unfortunately, that speed caught up with me, and I hopped a curb/flew into a mailbox, breaking a rear shock cap before I even got through the first battery! I was a little disappointed by this, but it was definitely operator error and a hard hit. After ordering the part, it took me a while to have the time to put it back on. Once I did, it has been smooth sailing thus far.
I am concerned about having to do real work on the truck because the access to critical parts is diffiuclt, as described in the review. I think I would have to get a set of Allen keys for my drill before I even tried it or I would go nuts...there are three different sizes of Allen screws on this truck.
Overall, it is a quality piece, and if you can get it for close to the same deal I did, it is definitely worth it for what you get. It's a great, durable little basher. I am probably going to put some Phaltlines on it after Xmas for better street running, but the stock tires are not horrible. The stock suspension is a little soft for the street out of the box, which is not surprising, but I may mess with that later, as well.
