Browsing the Tower Hobbies listings the other day, I was surprised to see price increases on virtually all Tamiya RC kits while there were no price changes on the other brands' kits. The conspiracy theorist in me thought maybe Tower was trying to redirect people more towards their "house brands," (e.g, AARMA, Associated, Axial, Durango, Duratrax, Thunder Tiger, etc.), but some searching via Google suggests Tamiya had already alerted their agents and retailers a price increase was coming on August 1. The notice supposedly indicated the price increases were due to circumstances beyond their control, suggesting raw material costs and shipping costs might be factors.

It'll be interesting to see if other manufacturers' prices are affected the same way, or if this is unique to Tamiya for some reason.

Opening it up for discussion.
