Folks, thought you might find this amusing. I have done a head to head endurance race between my monster scorcher and my blackfoot MK1 and the SRB based beast won!! I used Team Orion 2400 NiCD's for this and ran both cars around a simple oval of some 60m circuit length comprising very rough hardcore with a scattering of loose 25-35mm stones. The monster scorcher averaged 21mins run time per charge but the blackfoot only managed 23mins. The scorcher was 20% faster around the course because it sits arrow straight at full throttle even over the loose stones whereas the blackfoot bounces around and spins out of control. I was so surprised at the results I weighed them in and the monster is 2.1Kg but the surprise is the blackfoot at 2Kg dead, hardly any difference in weight despite the scorcher being fully aluminium with extra 5mm ali plate decks!! I ran both cars for 500 laps each using 7 charges for the SRB and 6 for the blackfoot. I would be happy to take on any blackfoot in a challenge around a really rough circuit now, the monsters suspension is soooo perfect!! The blackfoot is also very top heavy, the shell being hard plastic whereas I run a lexan beetle shell on the scorcher.

..update, after stripping cars down for a clean discovered that scorcher suffered wear to both upper front suspension pins, blackfoot has both rear suspension mounts cracked at the base of the rear shocks, split rubbers on rear shafts, serious play in front wishbones and worn battery compartment clip [:(][:(][:(] - obviously the SRB's also win on durability!

...to put things in perspective though - my thunderdragon did the same 500 laps in half the time and on just 4 charges, running stock motor, gearing and tyres. The Thunderdragon weighs just 1.6Kg. After a strip down and clean it appears the only damage sustained was a cracked front upright!

Interesting test method, you could test more cars from different eras, all with the same motor and batteries and give us comparative results, would find it very interesting! [^]

Cheers for that DJTheo, sadly the track is so rough it is only suitable for about half the cars in my fleet. Mind you I have a Bear Hawk, Midnight Pumpkin, Falcon, Hornet, Grasshopper2, Bush Devil and Mad Bull to test with yet....[:D]
