after a walk around a huge autojumble sale on the weekend, im now a "proud" owner of a thundershot!

£10 bought me a spares or repair car, but apart from the chassis tub being painted in purple, and the shell a nasty pink, all the the mechanical bits seem to be perfect [:P]

its now a runner, i needed to fit radio gear as the ancient acoms servo didnt seem to plug into any of my recievers.

the pink bodyshell isnt exactly great, so ive committed a big sin and stuck a scooby doo impretza shell on it [:I] which i have to admit was inspired by mud4funs one in his showroom [:P]

this is the first ever tamiya buggy ive driven, and i have to say i really like the way it goes! [8D] the sound of the 4 wheel drive reaching its top speed is brilliant, and its even got anti roll bars so its impossible to flip over, even with a heavy lexan body fitted.

the suspenion on this thing is also pretty neat. the travel is massive! the mono shock upfront is a bit odd, but seems to do the job. ive noticed there are a zillion different combinations for the shocks, so i mite have a play and see how different setups affect the handling.

before i make this one of my daily runners, are there any problems i should know about with the thundershots[?] the drive looks very strong, as does the rest of the buggy, but i dont want to push it to hard without knowing its limits [:P]

The A5 part is prone to break and hard to get due to this reason, if you search the forum on "Thundershot A5" you will find many topics about it and some fixes.
Cheers

As DJTheo says - the A5. If your's is intact (it's the part that the front wishbones attach to) it's probably worth more than you paid for the car. I would guess that it has been repaired in some way or other though. Also, watch out for the two mount points where the front gearbox is attached to the tub - Although you can afford for one of them to break as the gear box is held on at 6 points as far as I remember...

One other thing - if it has the original tyres and they have decent tread on them, you might want to consider selling them - they don't come up very often either...

cheers guys!

i can see why the a5 part is prone to damage, my one appears to be undamaged, which is pretty amazing considering all the scratches under the chassis! its got a new motor fitted, so maybe the a5 part was also recently replaced as it looks cleaner than the rest of the chassis.

the tyres on the other hand have barely any tred left on them - they are almost slicks! [:0]
