#495498 3Racing oil shocks V2 for DT02 chassis ?

Posted by shenlonco on 15 May 2013 - 04:41 PM

I DID IT!!!

I slightly had to bend the stock fighter springs just a hair at the bottom so it fits tighter on the 3 Racing shock bottom stay and it worked perfectly!!! on the rear because the springs are short and I still wanted to be able to adjust them with the screw down adjuster I used a Tamiya shock clamp clip the kind that a screw goes through to hold your adjusted height in place and it works perfect now. :)

#494159 TA-Mark's Grasshopper/Hornet Chassis Build Thread

Posted by shenlonco on 01 May 2013 - 10:34 PM

Hmm, what this extra hole at the top for I wonder? The FX10 C Hub only has one hole at the top for the Kingpin but Mark's CAD diagram has an extra hole!?!?!?

Am I warm?

That looks like a screw will go into it to not let the pin come out and hold it down.

#493663 Custom colored radio wheel grips one of a kind

Posted by shenlonco on 27 April 2013 - 01:45 PM

The ones in the foil picture look nice dark red.  The photo of them on a Traxxas transmitter looks pinkish.  But yeah, this monitor is not real good for colours, ASUS VW192T.  It was free.  I usually buy Samsung when I buy one (they're on the other Gaming and the Media PCs).

I got a thing for yellow :P

Hi Mark that grip on the traxxas radio is not a black cherries it was a day glow pink smoke grip.  I have some solid dayglow yellow with black splashed in them that I will post up some time in the near future for you.

#493158 Ok Why is RC so addictive ?

Posted by shenlonco on 23 April 2013 - 03:07 AM

I for one have been non stop in the hobby since I was 12. I love cars, I love building, I love speed, and I love tinkering. I'm a creative type, so I get to express that through my building, painting, driving, shooting video, editing video, and racing ( I'm competitive lol).  I can't imagine a more multi faceted hobby than this one. This hobby has been the one longest constant in my life without my ever losing interest. I thank it for allowing me to become excited about subjects like math, physics, and engineering. Long live this amazing hobby! Probably saved me from a life of crime or drink and drugs lol.

:D What he said!

:( Well I smacked my lunch box into a wall and the stock servo saver made my servos spline crack right off!
So i got a new servo and a kimbro servo saver and put it in pluse i put the rod ends out further than stock on the servo saver so the rods are more in a straight line....Now she's all good and ready to go again!!!

He was right about the Super Glue and soda, that's for sure! I just wasted 2 hours of my life fitting, sticking, scraping, washing, reinforcing and rewashing the two halves only for them to crack apart when I applied a little torsion. Not that I doubted Bill, just because I had the Super Glue to hand.

Thanks for all the input, folks. Do you have the brand of the glue you have had some luck with, pastimesteve? Did you mean that you left the JB Weld on AND used epoxy, or failed with the JB Weld and used epoxy instead?

How are your cut-and-shuts holding up, mr crispy? Have they had much of a beating?

Well I am sorry to say this but you muffed up all your work as now the ABS solvents will not work anymore because the parts are now coated in CA glue ... these solvents melt  and fuse the plastic together and it needs to be bare raw plastic to bond the CA will act as a shield not letting it melt the plastic anymore.

best bet now is probably another type of epoxy glue to first glue the chassis together...

and then  your best bet will be to make little plates and bolt the chassis together this will be the strongest method... I would glue the chassis together and make small aluminium plates with 4 screws and nuts on each and then glue tham down and bolt them across the cut to section of chassis to hold the sections together this way.

Hi you need to try some  liquid solvint for mending plastics together.

This stuff for ABS this will be much stronger than that plastruct model type

and then do what i said with goop glue a thick bead inside or a plastic epoxy

#485675 Lesson Learned about Lipos

Posted by shenlonco on 25 February 2013 - 01:52 PM

Back to the storage issue. Tower sells a voltage checker with a buzzer for low volt at 11 dollars each. It seems no matter what you do the voltage will drop at some rate while in storage. I didn't find any amp draw specs on these things but would it be worth it to just leave them attached so you'd at least know you were getting into a problem area?

:o  NO NEVER DO THIS VERY BAD IDEA IT'S LIKE LEAVING A LIPO PLUGGED IN A ESC IT WILL DRAIN AND IF YOU MISS THE BUZZER SOUND .....  NOT GOOD!

#485566 MY WILLY GOT WET!

Posted by shenlonco on 24 February 2013 - 04:40 PM

:D LOL!! Took him out in the melting snow and muddy watered grass with his new 15 Turn motor WHAT A MESS!!

The new motor did not seem much faster than the duratrax 20 turn motor but the arrma 15 turn motor was cool it did nit get hot at all so maybe i can jump up from 18 to the 20 tooth pinion gear?
