In Topic: Styrene Modeling - Starters pack for a noob?

12 June 2013 - 10:28 PM

I've just bought some 3mm plasticard to plug up the extra body mount holes on my Blackfoot 3 body. I want to cut out some round plugs to go in the holes (approx 6mm diameter). Anyone got any tips on how to cut small circular 'discs' out of plasticard?

Standard hole punch? Get some aluminum tubing and sharpen the edge and use that as a hole punch?

As far as working with Styrene/Plasticard... Here are my main tools.

- Dremel/Rotary tool with sanding drum, cutting wheel, etc.

- Cutting mat

- X-Acto knife

- Metal straight edge

- Lexan scissors

- Variety of styrene sizes, thicknesses, and shapes

With that you can create almost anything! :)
Good luck!

Cheers,

Skottoman

If you're a member over at "The Samba" you should post it up in the VW R/C thread!

:D

I am not, but if you are, you're more than welcome to post some of the photos and a link to this build thread! :)

I have not heard back from any VW mag regarding usage... so, I really don't know.

I'll have to look up whom I emailed, and give them a ring.

Nice to see this build thread come back from the grave from time to time...

I'm not building anything right now due to travels and some family issues at home.

I'll have you know that the bus is still in 1 piece, and doing well sitting on my flatbed 1/14 tractor truck trailer... :)
Thanks for the compliments!
Cheers,
