#492577 Fast Attack Willy

Posted by Skottoman on 19 April 2013 - 01:27 AM

This is spectacular! Just take the last amount of time to finish it as you want it before posting in your showroom.
But don't cheat yourself with some quick photos. Find a perfect environment, and get some great shots!

I would love to see this side by side with my Willy FAV Scorcher... Maybe I'll have to ship it to you for a shot! Hahaha...

Cheers,
Skottoman

#487377 Re-releases are KILLING the hobby

Posted by Skottoman on 12 March 2013 - 01:25 AM

To lightly comment on the "hoard" comments, I now have way too many built vehicles than I can drive or use.

The reason? I enjoy building. Making works of art. Maybe that's what the stack of trucks was at one time. A joy of building, and that's why there are so many.

So now I have 28 runners, and most of them are in shelf queen condition, but I do drive them. Every one. Just not that often.

Cheers,
Skottoman

#485186 Runners and Shelf queens or something in the middle?

Posted by Skottoman on 21 February 2013 - 03:31 PM

I run all my cars. Just that I have so many, they don't get run very often. And when I do run some, I run them HARD, and you can tell by looking at them.
Others I run, but more leisurely due to being more fragile (VW Samba/2CV/Tractor Truck type builds), because they are fun to see cruising around. So I guess these would fall in between the shelf queen and the runner...

I still run NIMH, and will charge up about 6 batteries before a weekend if I know I want to drive something.

But I do run ALL my cars/trucks/things..

Skottoman

#484199 $100 away from riding my golden BMX dream!

Posted by Skottoman on 14 February 2013 - 04:16 PM

Great topic, I had a 1980 Mongoose that I saved up all my paper route money for!
Cost me $210 in 1980, and looked almost exactly like this one.

Funny thing, is over time I eventually replaced EVERY part on the bike, tranforming it into a Race Inc. alloy monster!
My buddy had a PK Ripper, and we used to go jumping and working on our bikes every weekend!
Those were the days!

#482508 What colour should I paint my Tamiya F350 Body?

Posted by Skottoman on 04 February 2013 - 03:33 PM

That looks spectacular! I'm about done building up a Hilux and it's almost the same colors (Green and champagne) They could be brothers!
Nice work, the lights look good on!

You are so good at painting Willys. And I don't mean that in an elementary school sort of way...

Your style of shading, and outlining is pretty easy to spot.
I bet in a lineup of 5 painted Willys, I could spot your artistic style. It's very good and unique!

Great vid, and I love how balanced the WO appears to be off the jumps.
The rear weight bias keeps it from doing endos and just puts the power back to the ground asap!

I was contacted by the editor of UK based VolksWorld magazine... They want to do a little feature on the bus!
I sent them higher resolution photos, so we'll see if they send me an issue so I can see it once it's in print.

For any of you in the UK that see that magazine, take a peek through and see if it shows up!

Well I finally got down to the beach on a crisp morning for the sunrise. Believe it or not, this thing is actually quite fun to drive on the packed sand!

The official "photos" are now complete! Enjoy!

#479862 Tamiya's sexiest buggy

Posted by Skottoman on 16 January 2013 - 02:12 AM

Yes, I am one of those 40+ yr old people who do find the older, less spaceshipy types of buggies to be more desirable.

I prefer the hardbodies for painting, and details. Also the look of the open cages with drivers is so much more realistic to me. The FAV and Wild One are for sure good looking buggies. The do remind me slightly of the Kyosho Optimas...
I'm actually not a huge buggy fan in general, but I do think this is one of my favorites. And it's got a Willy in it. ;)
