looks good now madinventor ,  ;)  i like the HS swaybar assy  , i think i could do with a set of them body posts mate , wink wink , lol , the socket cap screws are a great idea to stop the stress crack , and where do you get the front support brace , the red one that holds the 2x front top arms together please , im desperate for one  ;)

Hi Shaun,
I can make you some body mounts for a very reasonable cost, the front support brace is made from polished and refined rocking horse droppings, good luck finding one. I bought mine off ebay a year or 2 ago, cost me about £6 + postage, but they are a vintage hop up and difficult to get hold of. I think SRM or Parma used to make them. As I've sold off a couple of my hotshot based cars now, I have a surplus of the socket cap bolts, so I could bundle up a kit with the body mounts if you like.

Here's the finished car, I went for a minimalist look as far as the decals go:

Bodyshell trimmed to allow use of the better hotshot front stabiliser

Socket cap bolts with sleeves and nyloc nuts replace the original screw pins

Custom made body mounts and support frame, this could easily be modified to use foam and Velcro to mount the shell.

Angled body mounts to minimise the difficulty of fitting the bodypins, and helps prevent damage to the shell when inserting / removing the pins.

Had another close look at the car today, the front tyres are the badly split ones off the supershot that went to BigGameHunter, the rear tyres are starting to crack up, the rear gear casing has a crack where the top self tapper holds it together, the battery tray hooks at the back are snapped off, the chassis has a bumper mount missing off one side, and the bumper is cracked around the centre front mount screw hole. Bit of a basket case still, but it'll hold together long enough for me to wear the tread off the tyres :)

The eagle eyed amongst you will also notice a complete set of thundershot drive cups and drive shafts fitted to it.

did you finish the body mounts..... madinventor ?

Yes and no,

I made a plate to support the body mounts to stop them being bent in a crash, but the shell is still mounted through the body mount holes.

I'll try and get some photos of the finished car on here sometime this week.

Yeah, I like these sort of projects that try to do things differently. I put a lot of thought into the possibility of building a scalish county tractor model a couple of years ago, and was trying to toss up which way to go between twin motor driving each side of the transmission (not very scale but easy to do skid steering), and a more scale 3 speed box with a diff attached, and a diff lock working on the rear axle off a dog clutch. Never made any real progress on it other than building the trailer, and then ended up building my 6x6 instead to pull the trailer. I'm just starting on my next project, which is a home made half track based on a king tiger chassis, I am doing the opposite to you and trying to mount a solid rear king hauler axle with tank sprockets :).

I'm going to follow this thread with interest.

Cheers for that. Am I better off swapping them for re re versions.
Steve.

I don't think it will make much difference myself. The newer version are £5-£6 each last time I looked, so not a cheap upgrade for marginal possible improvement
