I´ve a question to the ones that already had the fun to built this beauty:
The new HiCaps are obviously little different to the old ones regarding the sealings:
I want to repair an old set of Hicaps with new reservoir seals, as my blue original ones are brittle as plastics! From the Egress manual I know it´s 19805486 no., which is the same red oil seal Tamico lists as 9805486 for the DT02 rear CVA´s. I guess, the new Hicaps have also the big pistons, wouldn´t then be the sealing too small? What´s your experience? Can I use them for the old ones as repair?
And it seems, that (to my small knowledge) Tamiya recommends the Hicaps to be built with zero rebound for the first time I saw it in a manual!
Really interested how the shocks work in the Re-Re, hope for your comments!
Hi Matthias, I think your on the right track. The red top seals used to be the best replacement for original Hi-Cap Dampers before the re-re Hi-Caps were released. So yes you can use the new red ones to repair your old Hi-Caps.
I have built my re-release Hi-Caps with 2 hole pistons and completely filled with damper oil (no air gap) and they work fantastic. All the best !
