Hi All,
After 2 years of regular visits I decided to become a member of TC. Great to see that there are some many others with the same passion. For a long time I thought I was the only one who had this virus.
I got infected with the modelling virus in 1984 at the age of 12, after getting my first 1/24 modellkit, a Toyota Celica 1600 GT from Imai which I still have. The modelingshop where I bought most of my kits (Het Kabouterhuis in Zeist, NL) also sold Tamiya RC. My favourite was the Hotshot but for the price of a HS I could buy more than 10 modelkits. Santa brought me a 2-speed Nikko Turbo Panther that looked like the HS instead, around ‘86.
At the school of my daughter in '09 I met TC-member Tjaard and when I showed him my model-kit collection we both decided to relive our teenage years. I started off with de re-re Hotshot and 6 months later the Bigwig followed. Nearly two years later I recently finished my 6th vintage Tamiya RC, the fantastic Celica Gr.B!
I have experienced the dangers of modelling; too much models, too little space. Therefore I try to limit the RC collection to the 87-89 period, I hope I’ll manage…
