Essex chap now up in the East Midlands, UK. IT bod & devoted dad.
I co-own http://www.IconicRC.com It's a completely free social networking style site for RC fans. Look up IconicRC on facebook too. We have a great group with lots of RC banter. We also have a facebook page and a youtube channel. None of that would have come about without Tamiyaclub so thank you :-)
My dad bought me my 1st Tamiya (a Boomerang) in 1986 aged 14. We went to a London model show aiming to get a Fox but the chap convinced us to get the Boomerang as the Fox was being discontinued. I still have the Boomerang :-)
Back in the 80's I also got hold of a 2nd hand Ford Ranger and a 2nd hand Fox. Also bought a Lunchbox. Everything apart from the Boomerang was sold by about 1989. The Boomerang was boxed up in various lofts for many years until I got the bug again in 2009. It just needed cleaning up and some attention and now it's running like a dream :-)
My mission was to collect as many 58001 to 58100 as feasible :-) I got to 54 but then decided it must stop and I thinned the collection down a bit. I now have around 40 from the first 100 plus far too many doubles and triples. I have some newer Tamiya as well.
Cheers, J
