I have been a Tamiya enthusiast since about 1980, though my 5p weekly spends ensured I would not get to own one..only collect the brochures. I vividly remember staring through the window of the local model shop watching Tamiya videos of the Sand Scorcher pouncing over sand dunes and the 3 speed Hi-Lux all looking so realistic and detailed. I started my rally collection in 1993 with a Delta integrale which is boxed way in the loft after two decades of careful play and now have the bulk of the rally cars Tamiya have produced, along with some classic off road cars. I reduced many of my Nib kits because life if too short. In my opinion spending a few relaxing evenings assembling the mechanical components is sheer joy...none of my children are vaguely interested, preferring instead to stare at tiny screens or x boxes...the youth of today.
