I'm somewhat new to the hobby, being involved only for about a year and a half now, but I already have my part to say.
My two favorite (and only) tamiya cars are a TL-01 subaru impreza 97 and a newer aquisition, the wonderful TA-04ss mrs. Despite owning a team buggy and a kyosho v-one s, there is something about the tamiyas that I find makes them extremely pleasurable to build and run.
My TL-01 is upgraded with full ball bearings, oil shocks, carbon propeller shaft and speed-tuned gears. It is fast, but running a trinity 10t triple in it, the higher end is lost because of the inefficiency of the gear system. Still a very fun car to bash around.
The TA-04ss I dare not race and keep religiously pristine on my shelf. It's rare because of it's unorthodox shortened rear arms which are supposed to improve cornering on tight circuits (and limit you to the mr-s bodies, the only ones with the shortened wheelbase!) I only ran a few test runs on it to break in the bearings and drive system and to get a feel for the car. The twin-belt system's efficiency is wonderful and it's handling is top notch. I gess i'll run it sooner or later but only on pristine smooth asphalt or carpet and with a "basharound body".
Ok, I'm getting in over my head here, but I gess it gives you a good idea of my love for the hobby and for tamiyas.
