Tamiya Rere B.A.R. Honda Hotshot Evo II

This is my new doomsday machine! A seriously hopped up Re-re Hotshot. This came from the car in the bottom link, and it's now an Evo II :-) The mono-shock nonsense looked cool but performs very poorly...

The steering rack is custom made, for zero bumpsteer http://www.ymr.no/10orTip8.htm

It sports an INIX 8,5 turn brushless system, with a very practical programming card. It wasn't easy to cram that big ESC with a fan into the radio box, but I managed to do it after a lot of tinkering :-) For more details check out the above link about the custom steering rack. There's a 15p steel Traxxas pinion, plus alu motor mount shims from MadInventor (the plastic ones have a tendency to crack).

The shocks are TRF shocks, and feel super smooth. I tried some 3Racing shocks, but I didn't find them good enough. Too much slop AND binding!

I was planning to make the front bumper myself, and had bought some Kydex sheets. But then I saw this JG front bumper on the bay, and opted for that. It even had a red sticker stating 'New' :-) Quite interesting the name actually! John Gudvangen - that sounds VERY much like a Norwegian family name! John is not very Norwegian, but Gudvangen for sure is! It's like taken out of Flaaklypa Grand Prix! My guess is this is a descendant from a Norwegian family that emigrated to the US in 1800 (a lot of norwegians did back in the day)... anyone know more about this guy? Looks like he went out of business in 1987, and it can still be found online!

A Supershot skid plate is also mounted. It fits perfectly together with the JG bumper, catering for a perfectly even underside!

There's also the CRP thick fibreglass battery tray which stiffen things up a bit.

The front shocks are now more lay-down. This is done by swapping the alu mounts right/left. MadInventor has made the nice support alu rod for me, for more durability. In the rear the shocks are mounted with a std. Superhot fibreglass shock mount + lower hardware.

The rear shock mount forces you to get rid of the cool resistor cooling ribs. But they can easily be mounted where the rear sway bar normally is mounted. They look so cool they should be kept on!

I found the car too right heavy, due to the motor sticking so far out to the right. The battery is off-center, but with the lighter LiPo battery this doesn't help that much. So I added 3x17 grams of stainless steel to the left side of the battery. Plus 2x17 grams at the left side of the radio box. It now feels much better!

It has a front suspension brace from SynchroCNC (ebay) to tighten up and reinforce the front suspension.

Wings: The front wing is from the TeamXtreme Predator X11. It mounts easily on the front roll bar holder. The rear wing is a JConcepts 7' wing.

Update 29.1.2014: The car is now ready for the 4WD class in the Nordic Vintage Challenge in Eskilstuna, Sweden 1st february 2014. It's now got a Inix brushless ESC, BlueBird MG servo and a LRP 13.5 turn B/L motor. Tires converted into slicks (for indoor racing) and adjusted to very little droop, hard springs and dampening (to limit roll). The class is for pre 1995 cars. Should be good fun!
