description  This is my first Holiday Buggy. I didn't have one as a kid, so I think it was about time to get one I got it from a good friend of mine who is always on the look for old Tamiyas for me. One day he said: I have 3 'new' Tamiyas for you. 'What'???? 3 at once!', I said as I started to get dizzy The 3 were: 58023 Holiday Buggy, 49501 Grasshopper 2 Super G (I think) and a 58044 Mitsubishi Pajero. Wow - what a score! As you can see from the pictures it's in need of a clean up and total rebuild + some new, or good used, tires. The chassis is in pretty good condition, but the body has to be glued in one place and I think I will try to smooth out some scrathes here and there. The decals also need some attention. All good hints and tips on what to use and how to fix this beautiful body are very welcome! Can I use regular super glue and sanding paper on this one? As a curiosity I will leave the 'Hobby Disken' and 'KITS Hobbykjede' stickers on. I think they add some kind of 'soul' to this vintage model. Besides that 'Hobby Disken' is the name of a hobby shop that used to be in TC member Larbut's home town. Did you see that Lars? This car will be driven on sunny days when finished. Restoration starts tomorrow.

Give it a go its not let me down yet and as a example! i got a set of pin spike tyres of e-bay for a cheap price for my Raider runner. some one had cut the outer spikes off and cut to deep on one spike and made a big hole so i filled it with this glue and spread it a bit and left it for 2 days and its like a rubber plug now and i have used the tyres loads and its still holding great and my driver in my pajero is glued in at the front point and i have been driving it down the beach(as seen in my showroom) and with rolling it 3 times its still holding strong! and you know the pajero has bucket loads of bounce to try and break the glue join loose!!But all as good as new after the beach drive! just make sure you put the glue on nice and generously and leave it for a day or two before you use the shell! I look forward to seeing this baby all dressed up again! And take it easy when driving this beaut when she is finished! The old girl is 30 years old!! Cheers Buddy.

Thanks for the tips and comments guys! @gr2fltp: Don't think I have the nerve to test the soldering iron method, but thanks any way @MAD-BEE: Think I'm gonna try the unibond stuff since it's essential that it stays flexible. I have also used two-component 'plastic welding' before on other plastics with great sucsess. I will drive her on sunny days only @Rosey: I'll ask him

Great original and (best) holiday buggy I wouldn't waste your time with glue on the front pillars it always lets go, use a hot fine pointed soldering iron and mix the plastic as you rejoin the parts cool it quickly or it'll melt through easily

Thats a top mate you have!! And now you have the Top Legendary Holiday Buggy!! Most on this club i think now know that i am a Massive Hoilday Buggy fan so i will try not to go on to much!! I would use unibond Repair Extreme power glue it has a Flex tec technology that forms a tough bond that resists shocks, inpact, water, and extreme teperature conditions -50c to +120c and bonds clear but takes 24 hours to bond! If you can get it some how get it? its excellent! Back to the HB! it looks in great shape apart from the things you have pointed out but a great base to work from!! The Holiday Buggy has so much charisma and bags of historic value and when on display looks very nice indeed and if you do run it they are great fun to drive! I am on the look out for a 2nd HB as a runner as i will not use my HB again now as its happy living on the shelf!! But i need one for the beach as such a cool looking buggy to use on the beach and run well on wet sand! I love that suspension bounce! Have fun with this buddy and is this going to be a runner or one to just admire?? Cheers MAD-BEE.

Thanks for your comments guys! A very good project base for sure and I think it will give me many enjoyable hours in the future. My friend Robert (who found this car) and I used to race 959's in Tamiya Cup back in the '80s. Good times!

What a nice find and you certainly have a good friend there. I find it really interesting when old kits like this are posted, especially when some carry the signs of the kits previous life. Definitely keep the KITS and Hobby Disken decals. This looks like it'll be an enjoyable project.
