description  Nipped out from my room to the shed to get the small soldering iron, I come back in to the sound of the smoke alarms. Getting upstairs quickly I find my 12v battery box on fire with a little addition on top. No time to think just rush downstairs with box with stepson in front who opens the front door and launch flaming box onto the path. Luckily in the cupboard near front door I have a fire extinguisher (dry powder) which extinguised the nicely boxed fire.

When the dust clears what I find is that one of my micro cars has fallen from my worktop (maybe i nudged it on way out) and landed on a pair of the 12v batteries I use in one of my boats. The little micro has a custom carbon chassis which arced the terminals of one battery and result was the fire.

Really not happy not only did it nearly cause more damage, but, the car that is burnt well beyond repair had the custom chassis, lipo battery, savox servo, personal transponder, a custom painted shell. Oh and the house stinks now!

Holy cow mate. That was a lucky escape. Could have been far worse. If you had no smoke alarms and stopped in the shed longer ?

Front bumper looks ok to salvage! Just kidding i am very pleased you are all ok and good job you had a extinguisher! I had a small fire some years ago unrelated to the hobby and i used a powder extinguisher and it was very effective indeed!! So thats the tip of the day! All get a powder extinguisher in the house!! Cheers MAD-BEE

Many years ago, I had a Hirobo Tomcat that ended up looking quite a lot like your car. I was driving it in a sand pit close to the Cabin, and a wire from the Hirobo 3 step speed control shorted out. The car looked really spectacular as it drove around with 12 inch flames shooting up into the air. This only lasted a few seconds, and then it was all over. Anyway, glad you & your family/house are okay......

Wow, worst r/c accident I've seen. This has never happened to me so I can only imagine how you feel. Sorry to hear about the carnage but be thankful it wasn't worse. Hopefully you can salvage something from it and replace the rest.

Very lucky really, they flames can go wild pretty quick. Good no harm done to anyone. Still you got a good story and you can mount the remains on something in an arty way

Blimmey mate that was a close call. It's a good thing you weren't delayed in the shed. Get the Febreeze out.

Uh oh! I'm glad you and the family are safe, but now knowing you guys are o.k., I'm trying not to laugh. This has happened to me before, except it was a flaming Traxxas ESC that was the culprit.

I suppose it could be worse, could have had the laptop nearby for added spark and smoke.
