description  This is my Tundra and I love it. It's a great truck, I think they look great and it's very capable. I use it for trail running, haven't found anywhere local for 'serious' crawling.

It's had a few mods - no radio/battery box, steering servo moved to the front, gear shift servo behind the gearbox, raised transmission, 3Racing shocks, single-leaf springs, Axial 1.9 beadlocks and Flat Iron tyres.

The headlights, spotlights and tail lights all run from a TL01 and I've added inner arches and a few 'scale' details. The arches are from jsourbeck, the fuel can is an Ansmann item (I think) and the high lift jack is home-made.

Joys and frustrations? As I said, it's a very capable truck and a lot of fun to drive. The 3-speed transmission is very much part of the character but the sheer bulk is frustrating - it's far too easy for the low-hanging transmission to hang up on a protruding rock etc.

But I'm not going to change it, ripping out the gearbox would destroy the truck's character. Maybe I'll just have to build a running mate...

Steve, you know I can't leave anything stock!

Thanks Seth, it was your Tundra that inspired the (simplified) paint job.

Toykid, thanks for the link, I may need to invest...

Great looking tundra. There is an aftermarket transmission lift kit to help with the grounding issue.

Nice truck and scale work on the bed.

Thanks guys

The rear bed cover is just plasticard, the spare tyres are actually one flat iron cut in half.

I would think the CR01 is probably a better crawler, better ground clearance and articulation. This beastie doesn't get babied, it's been mudding, semi-submerged, barrel-rolled and generally bashed but it just comes back for more.

Fantastic! I really enjoy seeing these scale trucks and even better is to see them out and about like this. I have a CR01 crawler that I love and wonder how this compares to the CR01 for crawling? I have rolled my crawler a few times and having an extra body is not a challenge for the CR01 but I wouldn't want to see that happen to this masterpiece!
