description  Part 1 - A look back into time - My archives, circa 1995 Sydney, Australia. Welcome to the early days of Touring and presenting my 1st ever foray into Touring, an FF01 based Toms Levin. Those days there was only one class - 'Touring' and it didn't matter if it was 4WD, FF or RWD, brand = all had to race in one class! And boy was it a challenge! But it was fun! Simple days they were A run down of what I used was simple; fully ball raced, universals, graphite plastic based after-market chassis, Manta Ray upgrade ball diff, classic 410 ESC and 13Turn Dyna Tech which equated to loads of wheel spin and lots of replacement tires! Status: Reconfigured to TA02 chassis in 1996 for new racing season - See Part 2 of my Tamiya Archives.

@sunnyjai: I know what you mean... I have an Olympus OM-1 (first (Film) SLR Olympus ever made): It's so awesome shooting with it, and just getting o-k pictures is a very rewarding experience, let alone getting 'the' shot!

Wow I remember those days well..... offroading was on the decline and tourers were fast gaining momentum. Just about everybody had a Tamiya (I don't think the other manufacturers had caught on yet). I starting touring with a TA02 Castrol Celica and later went with the TA02 special racing chassis and loaded it up with additional hop-up parts. Just like yourself I ran a Novak 410 ESC but went with a Peak performance 13 triple. Things were much less complicated back then..... just like you said 'it was fun'. Can't wait to read part 2.

@ Origineelreclamebord: yes the film days - it was all about trial & error taking pics like these! Now in the digital age we take it for granted as we have infinite choices on experimentation!
