I had never seen a Monster Beetle in the flesh before I bought this one. They look good in pictures, but they look absolutely fantastic up close. This may just be the most attention grabbing R/C I have owned to date.

It was in a sorry state when I bought it, and I didn't want to turn it in to a big, dollar consuming project. So I reused most of the parts it came with, or just made up my own. The shell had a heap of damage and many poor quality repairs had been performed on it over the years (the first owner must have loved to use this Monster). It looked ready for the bin, but I thought I would have a go at restoring it. It's still a bit rough, but considering the start point I'm happy with how it turned out. It still has all of the original radio equipment and mechanical speed control which look great and add an additional point of interest to the chassis.

I love my Monster Beetle and hope you like it too.

Thanks MAD-BEE. I copied some Fibre glass suspension towers and cut them from a sheet of carbon fibre.

I dig it, that is a cool beach buggy you have there. Sounds like you made carbon copies(pun intended) of some JG front and rear shock towers. I would love to get some of those from you. I do see you didn't drill quite the same number of holes in the rears as the parts I have here. I also dig that motor condom, that is slick, how did you go about making/getting that??? I have also not joined that SIG, I guess I better now as it looks like I could be in some pretty cool company.

Hi Crash Cramer. Thanks for that, I didn't know the maker of the original shock towers. Good eye to spot the missing holes! I have covered the motor in sign writing vinyl, I suspect it won't last very long on a hot motor, but this Monster is primarily for display.
