I'm trying to get my 4 & 1/2 year old son into RC cars, whilst also furthering my own Tamiya collection :-)
I wanted to start him with something a bit more manageable - in terms of speed and size. The Tamtech GB-01 cars seem to fit the bill perfectly.
I bought the Desert Gator brand new from a German website (HobbyDirekt) for a very reasonable price earlier in the year.
The Hornet was built from a part stripped Fox-Mini chassis (hence the yellow shocks) which I got on ebay. I then completed it with a new set of wheels & tyres and the Hornet bodyshell.
After painting the Hornet bodyshell and applying the stickers earlier today, I thought I'd take a few photos before it gets too battered.
I had a bit of a play around with both cars on the carpet indoors. They are a bit bouncy, but very good fun to drive.
We'll be heading down to the beach over Easter for a bit of Tamtech racing. At the moment my son can't make up his mind which car he prefers, but I suspect he'll opt for the Hornet because he thinks it looks like the Batmobile!
Will try to upload some video of our 'racing' next week if I manage to take any.

I too started a GB-01/02 batch with my son, daughter, wife, and myself, in order: frog, fox, hotshot, and an extreme hopped-up frog.
It has been quite fun in the backyard The stock shocks are very weak and broken/bent after few battles so I replaced them with aluminum 1/16 Kyosho, added sport-tuned motor, and NiMH battery, they provided hours of fun...
