astute purchase maybe ?
the first car i've bought in 12 months but i could'nt resist the astute is one of the best looking buggies you can get.... not this one of course its butt ugly with miss matched wheels but its a good enough place to start , there's a few non standard parts so i need to decide if its getting hopped up or returned to standard i found some light weights in my stash which make it look miles better already hopefully not a mega expensive rebuild over the next few months ....thanks for looking !

Astute is always a nice buggy and after more than 20 years is the best ever designed body. Restore it and enjoy it.

Nice find...this is easily my favorite Tamiya buggy because it was Tamiya's first attempt at a competitive racer. Yours looks to be mostly there and TBG makes a nice repro body set. Original decals will probably be pricey and difficult to find but repros are available also. I agree with Kontemax that these bodies are really nicely designed even more than 2 decades after its release.

i've gotta agree with you both probably the best looking 2wd ever not sure how much is pure astute obviously the shocks and towers are after market items, upper linkage ? arms till i rip it apart im not sure what bits lurk beneath that sleek body shape although on the up side the gearbox seem super smooth should be a fun rebuild !

Nice to see another Astute getting a re-birth. My all time favourite buggy for sure.

I have never seen an Astute that I didn't love! Even the very worst of them has the potential to be awesome! Loose the bumper though.

really cool buggy, the red Schumacher shocks look good on there!

Build a Jamie Booth Astute?
sof101
probably beyond my skill level to do it justice but definitely worth thinking about

If I can build a Jamie Booth Astute, you surely can. I really dig those beefed up shock mount plates and such. I can't say I have seen those before. The lightweight wheels look the best on these, I just really wish SOMEONE out there would repop some rubber for that size.
That bumper hasn't been chopped, it has eaten some GIANT pills as it is 3 times bigger than it should be. Good news on the sounds the transmission is making and hope the rebuild goes well.

Nice, should be an easy rebuild, you should see the state of some of the stuff I start off with!!
I almost pressed 'buy it now' myself, but too much on my plate at the moment Good luck with it!

ahh the bumpers completely wrong oh well add another item to the new parts list ....the light weights do look awesome on these but like you say rubber is scarce cheer Crash ! Wez-li i thought the price was ok but if i'd seen your rocky with box first it would have been a tougher choice have'nt got one with a box damn it...

Get me a list of what is needed, I might just have a bit here and there spare for you. I also thought I had a set of CVA front and back for this, or was that for my St Dragon build??? I do have too much stuff to build too.
sof101
thanks very much crash that's a very generous offer i will drop you a PM if that's ok when i strip it down thanks again !
Crash Cramer
Always ok, all I can say is NO, don't have that part or this part or etc.
