Avante 2001 (used rebuild project)
My latest arrival, an Avante 2001, not new in box, more like 'used in box' ;)
It was in prettty decent condition seeing as it's 23 years old, only a couple of bits let it down. Gave it strip down, clean and full nut & bolt rebuild.
It's almost complete, might just need to get some new tyres for the camlocs and a body for the shelf, the body that came with it is fine for a runner, which it is.
In my haste I stuck some wheels on, fitted rc gear & a dynatech and gave it a run, either the tyres, or esc brakes weren't up to much, or maybe it was just my awful driving but I crashed! :(
New shock tower on the way!!

Never blame yourself, ALWAYS blame the equipment.
I think I would do exactly the same as you when it arrived, tear it all down and rebuild it step by step. I tend to have to do that with everything and that is exactly what has put me sooooo behind on all my projects. I will hopefully get something done before the end of the year at this rate.
Is the driver's name on that car Balmy Baldwin?????

@Crash Cramer - I wouldn't mind but I'd just told my son to be careful when it's his turn to drive as it's a bit faster than his other car! Yes, the driver is Balmy Baldwin, and he's soley to blame

Where did you source the new front shock tower? Would be good to get a 2001 from shock tower for Egress 2013 - so can add the Avante 2001 body without cutting the nose to fit.

@Aussie Top Force - I've ordered an egress one mate, this shell isn't great so I don't mind 'modding' it to fit. Don't think I've ever seen an Avante 2001 tower for sale...

Congrats on a nice project. It's not uncommon for Avante 2001's to have busted front shock towers. Mine had a very light ding with a 1:1 car tyre (as I was playing on road so as not to dirty my precious) and it broke so easily! Those days before internet and ebay it was so difficult to source the replacement part. Nowadays with eViLBay, internet and paypal it's so easy! Looking forward to your finished 2001.
