I was on this M chassis kick and still am to some degree. I have a bunch of street model ideas that this chassis is what I want to use, but sadly all the bodies Tamiya makes for them are not as appealing to me as say some other folks. I found this HPI Civic body about 9 years or so ago and thought it would make a cool car to drive when I find the right chassis. Although it is an HPI body, I had to put a Tamiya chassis under it, so enter the M-03m ala the Swift and it works pretty well.
As we all know the huge steering servo 'hump' makes for some difficulty in getting a body with a low slung hood height just right. I pushed on and it is still a tiny bit high, but I think it will work for its intended purpose.
I found some interesting brake discs and they looked promising, but the way they mount, they push against the wheels and are a bit dished, so they have all cracked in their hex hub area. Another small point of discontent with them is that they will NOT fit into a standard M wheel, only very thin wall hex mount area wheels, like the HPI stars you see here, so, they look great for static, but have to go for running.
I have since changed a few decals and took the GIANT Type R decals off for the smaller sized decals that are closer to scale and more appropriate, as well as added a few red 'H' emblems. I didn't paint this one, so the color is permanent with the wonky stripes, but it still looks pretty cool to me and I will be working on getting it to a neighbor who owns a couple of the real scale cars, should make his son pretty happy to have a running toy of 'daddy's car'.

Looking good, I have always liked Civics. I restored a 1977 Hondamatic two door years ago, it would be great to see Tamiya release an RC model of an early Civic.

Looks good matey!!! Sounds, though, you need to talk to ABC about some of their bodies.... [Click here] or [Click here]

Thanks guys and Thank you Alex, that link to ABC is nice and I like a few, but I went ahead and bought the Tamiya CR-X, might look into the last iteration of the CR-X body from ABC, but then I would lust after buying the real deal and those seem to be a bit harder to justify in cost.

Somehow I missed this post. Very unique setup,,have not seen tis body set used much. Just add a giant fart-can exhaust tip and you are all done.

Sometimes posts just slip on by. Funny thing, I have a big FART-Can tip here, but didn't install it on this, perhaps something else.
Even funnier thing, now I have the correct HPI 4WD RS4 Mini chassis and I don't have this body any more, oh well, life is like that isn't it.
