Sourced from Poland - Reunited with 1st RC model I ever had !!!
Finally after many years, I completed my Sand Scorcher - The first RC model I ever had, given to me as a Christmas present, back in the 80's. I bought this model from Poland, back in 2005, and it didn't require much work.
- I had to track down a new wiper, 2 x original number plates, original decal sheets, paint the driver figure, and repaint the window surrounds, as they were done in gloss black, when they should be matt black.
- I also found some vintage chrome wheel covers, and painted the tyre lettering.
The chassis in untouched, and has all the period radio gear still installed.
- I just released the tension on the cam-springs, so they don't crack the radio box overtime.
(I've seen this happen in the past to my Rough Rider, whilst on display).
I now enjoy looking at this model in my display case.
- I even managed to find the remains of my original Sand Scorcher decal sheet. I plan to apply a few of these, but like before my very first Sand Scorcher was boxart, so I am left with many options on which to use. Maybe, I'll use some of them on my Rough Rider, which I plan to restore soon.
I found it very odd, that the manual doesn't cover the boxart decal placement. It only covers the decal placement for the alternative red/yellow paint job. For the Blue/White layout, you need to work it out yourself, from the various images throughout the manual.

Really nice clean looking original you have there, this is a much nicer car than the RR in my opinion and a must have. Well done and enjoy

Thanks for your comments guys, they make me want to start my next restoration project - my Rough rider. I am happy with this SS, and rest easy knowing it all original - no Repro parts/decals on this one.
