I actually did a box art lol! Well almost I used bright red instead of Italian red. I guess like everybody else I had to have one of these (I actually bought 3 of them to do some custom more personalized projects later) But for now I just wanted to build the monster I wanted so bad as a kid. I have so many other trucks and cars to build already but this Beetle cut in front and actually got finished this weekend. Now it can cure for a week or so before I'll take it out and get some action shots as this one is just going to be a fun runner, not a basher since I really don't do that well as I always here that little voice saying take care of your toys ;)

wanted this so bad as a kid...finally Its fragile and kinda weird but so nice really looking forward to playing with it MIght have to make stronger light brackets Will order some Wyo tag plates soon just so 80s I love it Side shot Left off the California roof decals lol!

Congrats on the re-re MB! It's really good Tamiya kept it very close to the original.

Thanks, I am glad they updated the rear axles though, I had a Blackfoot back in the day and remember the original hex axles lasted only a short time before they stripped out

Very nice MB.. Had to take a a second look to see you did box art. Very cool and works very well! And good point on the axels. They sure didn't last till they stripped.

Looks great! Does it look satiny? Like almost of all your cars?

Glad to see someone fill in those darn rear-view mirror holes! Speaking of, I wonder if now would be a good time to throw up on eBay my last NIP vtg Monster Beetle window parts set that goes all the way around. If you had that this would look really close to the original!

Thanks guys, yeah i did a coat of clear satin to seal the decals and reduce the 'shine' I filled the mirror holes with styrene rod, saving the mirrors for my sand scorcher.

That sure takes me back. If EVERY hobby shop had one of these displayed, they would have sold even MORE than they did. Great looking fun is what I always saw when I saw one of these.

That looks so good! Well done! I love the fact you have kept it box art. I think too often people think they can beat box art designs and then fail. Yours is authentic and very nice indeed!

Nice one! I think box art is the only way to go if you just have one, experiment if you have more my one is 99% finished just the guy to paint and of course try to find what is wrong with the drive train on my one!

@sunnyjai Yep - it's lighter and doesn't cover the rear window, unlike the original. The original wrap-around window part was used thru the first run of the Blitzer Beetle, which used the same shell as the Monster Beetle but molded in black. The second run of Blitzer Beetles switched to the front-and-sides-only window like the Sand Scorcher.
