This started with one and a half car in not so good condition acquired from a local trading site.

The Pegasus (released in 1986) is a very simple car. Big bathtub, 2WD, only a few metal parts and lots of plastic.
Even the suspension arms move up and down by flexing the plastic parts.
In reality not a car worth to spend any time and money on……

But somehow I can’t resist the look of the 80’s Kyosho buggy’s and I decided to go for restoration.
The car has been released by Graupner in Europe and there are plenty of parts available. So I ended up with new suspension arms, tub, shell / decals and wheels.
Not sure if I like the new wheels. A bit too much bling bling… Maybe I will ‘un-chrome’ them. The boxart colour (creamy white) is underneath the chrome.

Other things to do on this car:

Find tires in better shape.

Fit electronics.

Find the driver……

Test drive.

Update September 2016:

- I un-chromed the wheels (toilet cleaner with chlorine) and now the wheels are like boxart.

- Added a Tamiya driver. With a matching helmet.

- New front tires / white tire letters.

I am in total agreement with you! A bog standard basic plastic simple low performance cheap Buggy! But absolutely Love the Pegasus!!!!!
Love its 80s Buggy looks! love its quirky design points! Love its name! Love its unique and odd suspension and love its ever so simple spec!
Plus these seem rare and quite a mystery from the past! I do not remember this from back in the day!

Too 'toyish' car for my taste, but great resto job!

I'm a big Pegasus fan too! Mainly because it was my brother's ride BITD. Nice work so far on yours. I didn't know it was rebadged in Europe as Graupner! If you have trouble finding a driver figure let me know, I may be able to help you out. If you manage to find a source of NOS cream-colored wheels DEFINITELY let me know. Been looking for ages.

Thank you guys. Yes it’s cheap and a bit more ‘toy’ than other cars in this era.
But that was what they aimed at. The bottom of the 1986/1987 Kyosho line up with some great classics like Ultima and Javelin. I have added the 1987 catalogue page.

Beefmuffin: I can’t find the original wheels either. The chromed ones are still available. I could buy another set and try to remove the chrome with chlorine and see what happens.
