Here's my entry for the 'Black' theme competition. Like I did with the Fusion comp last year I've attempted to put some real effort into constructing an image, rather than just take a pic of one of my cars, just to try and stand out :)

I toyed with a few ideas for this and finally settled on creating a fictional mid 1990s style Tamiya promotional poster. I decided to use my King Blackfoot as I'd simultaneously come up with a headline - 'Black Is Back', and being a return of the Blackfoot this fitted perfectly.

I photographed the model in front of a dark background then edited the pic to make it totally black apart from the truck. From then I laid out the poster - adding the text, Tamiya logo, and copying the specs from the 1997 catalogue, complete with the trademark star bullet points. Photos from the mid 1990s don't look like shots taken on the modern DSLR I used so I blurred, added noise, dust, scratches and tweaked the contrast.

I'd now got the completed poster, but I thought I could go further so I played around and made the poster look like it was stuck to a wall. Finally I added the creases and fold marks that something near 20 years old would probably have. Done!
