Tekin RC10 Conversion
This is my Tekin RC10 conversion kit that I've assembled with NIB parts I've gathered over the years. The main part I was missing was the chassis nose plate. It took a while to locate one that I didn't have to pay through the nose for. This kit is very unique as it relocates the motor more towards the middle of the chassis. The chassis kit also comes with parts so that it can have an active rear suspension. I didn't install it on mine since it's not for use on rough tracks.
It has full bearings.
When I was building this kit, I couldn't find any helpful tips. The instruction sheet is pretty worthless. It was full of vauge text and pictures that lack detail since they resemble a dark photocopy. Here are a few building tips I'd like to share:
1) Use the 4 blue locknuts to secure the shocktower. You'll have to source another for the anti-vibration motor mount.
2) It's nearly impossible to mount the motor with the correct gear mesh when using the stock 81 tooth spur. I suggest using an 85 tooth spur and adjusting your pinions accordingly.
3) The kit suggests using 0 degree rear blocks. These are nearly impossible to find. I think I got the last set at my LHS. Tower no longer carries these.
4) Finding suitable tires is another problem. The RC10 (team versions) use 2.1 fronts and 2.0 rears. Traxxas still makes tires that fit the bill. For the fronts, I used p/n 1771 spiked fronts. For the rear, I used p/n 4750 rear spiked tire. If you can't find these locally or online, you can get them directly from Traxxas. Traxxas also makes a ribbed front p/n 4740. NOTE: I recently changed the wheels to RC10 B3 wheels. The reason for the change is to use modern 2.2 wheels and tires.
